Is more expected of men than women?

Random thoughts!
MrsKatherineArch · 41-45, F
I think it’s the same, just different things.
TexChik · F
Yes , from historical stereotypes . Men worked hard and women kept them clothed and fed and supplied him with sons to help with the work . So now they are expected to still provide by making the money necessary to provide for the family

Women are held to a higher moral standard though @TexChik

maybe the question is from who? I've always observed that women are harder on yourselves and each other while often lowering the bar continually for us men. I am not sure men have those same high expectations for ourselves and each other. This might also look differently when talking about relationships or career or competition. Just my observation. :)

No, the emphases are different but the pressures work out about the same.

I don’t know that you could quantify it as being “more”....but certainly different things are expected from men than are expected from women.

Oh, I didn't think we were allowed to think in terms of "men" and "women" anymore. I thought the PC Gestapo put a stop to that. 🙄

It would all depend on what the subject of that expectation is. Certain things it's women that more is expected of, some things it's men....a lot of times either is unfair. Men and women are equals in a lot of ways and should be treated as such, but not in everything and thus more should be expected which is understandable. Gender roles do have a purpose and practicality...but they shouldn't dictate and determine everything we share and are faced with.

That's a loaded question....with a definite eh as the answer

Other way around

Sometimes I think the wrong things are expected of both genders, that's why I don't base my expectations of people on their gender.
Flenflyys · 31-35, F
In some ways yes. Women are expected to contribute more socially though. Which is a lot of work too.

Nah I expect it all comes out in the wash.
MethDozer · M
Possibly. There might be more expectation but with more acceptance when we fail to meet the most basic and reasonable ones.

I think it all comes out even in the wash.
