Why do some people proclaim they have `freedom of speech` & then forget that such freedom gives others the freedom to disagree with them?

its the same with democracy - people in the uk saying that complaining about brexit is going against democracy - democracy is exactly why we are allowed to complain about stuff we dont like.

They also think it means "consequence free" speech. The 1st Amendment simply means the government won't lock you up (although there have been exceptions). It doesn't mean you can't lose your job, lose a friend or get punched in the nose.

I like 'freedom of speech' - without it, we would never really know who were the un-educated and ill-mannered slobs and who were not!

It's an obscure Amendment to the Constitution affectionately known as "Freedom of Me and Only Me."
