One reason - when you kill someone you can't take it back - so you make damn certain that you cross all the t's. In practice that means more court time, mandatory appeals, etc. And we still execute innocents from time to time, so cutting that out isn't really an option. Thing is, when you factor in how much all of this costs, it's cheaper to just let them sit in prison. Lack of money also blocks more mongs from getting locked up.

Death penalty isn't legal everywhere but also depending on the crime there's a possibility of rehabilitation
BondGirl84 · 36-40, F
@lucetta12 I wudnt but ppl try!

@BondGirl84 And they're generally unsuccessful. They're sexual predilections and people can't just turn them off. That's why they need to be locked up.
BondGirl84 · 36-40, F
@bijouxbroussard I do agree with that & do agree that not always that rehab helps! But some prefer rehab over death penalty. I think depending on the crime, a life for a life or if rehab doesn't help, yup death penalty.

Agreed

Presumably because those people don't have death sentences and may, therefore, be released one day.
bijouxbroussard · F
@fazer1k Even without capital punishment some people don't ever need to be out and about.
fazer1k · 56-60, M
@bijouxbroussard I'm not a supporter of the death penalty at all because it's just too easy for the system to make mistakes. I have nothing against locking people up indefinitely, though, in cases where that is deemed the only way to keep law abiding citizens safe.

Wtf. No idea what you’re ranting about.
BlueRain · F
Because it’s actually more expensive to get a death sentence
BlueRain · F
you are right but the legal system lol
bijouxbroussard · F
Why don't they just keep people who have life sentences in prison for life ? No parole, no "good behavior".
It's actually less expensive than the cost of execution (my state crunched the numbers and confirmed it)
And since we still frequently incarcerate the innocent we can release someone a lot more easily than we can resurrect them.
