Remember, you're a sane, reasonable adult, who doesn't have the same anger issues, driven by adolescent hormones, that these shooters have. I don't doubt that some of them keep files, including photos of the scenes, and names of the shooters, and personal notes about them.
I really do think that many kids, who are on the edge of the violence cliff, are greatly influenced by the publicity the shooters get. For them even death is preferable to whatever they perceive as life. and to die in infamy is better than to live in unremarkable, yet painful, anonymity.

@Serenitree the sad thing is that it becomes harder and harder to get that notoriety- there really is a huge focus on "biggest ever"

Shootings of children and adults occur every day, not just in schools. Arming school employees, hardening schools might decrease those shootings, but there will still be more gun-related every day, intentional or unintentional, murder or suicide, than deaths from auto crashes. The common link is the gun. There is no reason for gun manufacturers to produce safer guns, or fewer ones, while autos have annually added safety features to decrease injury.
The 2nd amendment to the USA constitution has limits, no one can buy a howitzer, a bazooka, or grenades and other weapons of war. Why is a citizen permitted to purchase an automatic or semi-automatic weapon?
