Will LED bulbs finally kill this daylight saving nonsense?

As I understand it, DST was asked for by the power companies so as to reduce consumption by lights (although, why it's an improvement to have less lighting in the morning and more in the evening has never been explained to me). But now that lightbulbs are having their efficiency raised from 10% to well over 50%, might that be enough to finally put and end to this chaos we go through twice a year, compounded by the whims of governments who decide to shift the dates?

@therighttothink50 it says they produce more blue and violet which explains the lousy "colour temperature". Right now I'd stick with "soft" white.

I wish they would leave it the summer way all year round. I hate it when it’s dark by 5 PM in the winter. So what if it’s dark in the morning? Morning sucks anyway - I have to get out of bed!

No but it will certainly destroy your eyesight in the long term.
