Tell me the name of your favorite book ??

Interesting note: I visited his book store in Archer, Texas. There were notices on the walls that no signed books of McMurtry’s were for sale at HIS bookstore.

There was a grumpy letter from McMurtry on the wall. i don’t remember the exact wording but it was along the lines of ‘If you require the talismanic shawl, such-and -such book store across town does have autographed books by Mr. McMurtry.

The story I was told was that predictably once a famous author opened a book store in town, the others began to suffer, and McMurtry made the decision to level the playing field by allowing at least one other store to sell his autographed works.

I don’t offer that as gospel...more like gossip, but that’s what I was told.

I might change my mind about this, but at the moment, off the top of my head:

Fiction: Dean Koontz - Watchers
Non Fiction: Ian Kerner - Be Honest, You're Not That Into Him Either: Raise Your Standards and Reach For the Love You Deserve

That second book was sort of a response to the earlier book Maybe He's Just Not That Into You. It's actually much more helpful than that other book, in the area of romantic relationships.

@SW-User You're welcome. Any time.
East of Eden by John Steinbeck. Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry is a close second and after that thousands...maybe tens of thousands.

@Mamapolo2016 The Last Picture Show is in my top five list. McMurtry has been my favorite living author since about 1972.
@SW-User East of Eden has everything. Betrayal, love, hate, parenting, business, comedy, heartbreak. It’s a can’t put her downer for me.

I gotta say it's a tie between Old Man's War, The Last Centurion, and Live Free or Die.
Booyeah · 41-45, M
@SW-User Military Sci-Fi.
SW-User
@Booyeah Military stuff bores me mostly ... I would try it
Booyeah · 41-45, M
@SW-User Live Free or Die is "less military". The main character is just a civilian with big ideas.
Oh, and Clan of the Cave Bear by Jean Auel. The subsequent books were good but a little too Paris Hilton goes prehistoric for me. The first, though, was enthralling.
I’m fond of reading but rarely using Mwah-ha-ha and muah-ha-ha. I’m Such a word freak I usually type the actual WORD laughing. Or am I a Luddite...?@KayraJordyn
