What good books do you recommend reading?

Hardcastle, by John Yount (1980). A novel about coal mining in Kentucky during the Great Depression. Out of print once again, but should be considered Great American Literature!

Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel and it's follow-up Bring Out the Bodies. Both won Man Booker prizes.
