Is it better to have loved and lost or to have never loved at all?

After being a widower... “loved and lost” is better... because you know you were loved once, at least.

@wistful For you my friend (and anyone else in your place), having loved and lost is the best thing ever.🤠
Thank you, @indyjoe Nice to know someone else understands.

@wistful I've never had to deal with love lost in that way, but I know that someday I may have to and I know I'll cherish every memory we made together. I don't dwell on it, but I have thought about it.

I'd always go for the experience, than the lack of.

I've always battled with this statement myself. On one hand, if you've loved and lost... You have the memories of the happiness you shared for the rest of your life, but also the memories of the pain and disappointment as well as what is gone and not there any more. On the other hand, if you've never loved at all you cant miss what you never had in the first place (which could fall under the "what you don't know won't hurt you"). I really don't know the answer to this. I for one am just glad I've gotten the chance to experience it and have that chance at this moment right now.

To have loved is beautiful. I would rather have had, than to never have, and wonder.

The pain of loving him and then living through the hell of him hurt me and then the nightmare of surviving the predatory stalking that followed me as I had to survive on my own makes me wish I had never met him.
@chubbycheeks Have you ever contacted lifetime movies?
frequentlyme · 70-79, M
To have loved and lost is by far the better. It's about life, experiences and lessons learned... especially the lessons learned about oneself.
@frequentlyme I thoroughly enjoyed the response.

Life is about risks and sometimes you gain, sometimes you lose.Same goes with people in life. So live your life in a way you find your happiness without hurting others.

I think some people have never had the privilege to be loved or to love and that is very sad....
To have Loved and feel what it is like ..
