Thoughts on intermittent fasting?

Eating a big meal to start the day, and fasting for 16 hours after?

I'll be 8 hours on, 16 off, starting Monday. I've done IF a number of times, over the last couple of years. It tends to rob me of strength in the gym. I've changed some things up to change that this time. I don't do it for weight loss. I feel physically and emotionally well, when practicing IF

It works for some, but usually people just end up binging when they do finally eat a meal.
I've heard it's effective for weight loss

I do the opposite, I know snacking is an easy way to get fat so I tell myself I shouldn't. Then the entire day has passed and I haven't eaten so I swallow down a big meal. Probably not a good idea to fast anyhow.

That would be the opposite of convenient. Better to sleep during 8 of the fasting hours
