is it stupid to fall in love or to catch feelings in general?

I know that one can't control it...but given the amount of pain we all go through because of love, doesn't it make more sense to only have no strings attached relationships or at least live a polyamorous lifestyle so that one does not get too pre-occupied with a single individual?

and what would be the intended consequences of such a lifestyle? Without developing emotional connections how would people learn to understand others feelings. How can you understand an emotion you have never experienced.

@seeandhear i know it's so wrong to justify means by their ends but that's what happens with most of us...the entire relationship seems like a nightmare if it ends badly

it really depends on the person. some people just can't have poly relationships. if it works for you, awesome. it doesn't for most.

@SW-User hmmm...I think I need to have more sense of self-worth in order to be poly cuz right now I'm more of a jealous cunt.

It's not stupid, I mean, try and make that last option work, if you do then it makes more sense for you and your lifestyle.

Nothing stupid about it...even if it does make us do stupid things lol.

I’m occupied with my cousins friend, she’s on my mind 24/7. Unfortunately she doesn’t feel the same way, it’s left me crushed and after thinking things were getting better, I’m now as low as ever.
blasphemy666 · 26-30, F
@Haydon23 well aren't we all in the same boat!
Haydon23 · 41-45, M
@blasphemy666 I think past bad experiences make us build walls that some will never get over, ideally no strings attached would be the way, but I’m not like that. I’m guessing you aren’t either.
blasphemy666 · 26-30, F
@Haydon23 I know I can't do no strings attached since I'm very emotional and sensitive person who fall in love with the littlest things in people but I'm a little hopeful about polyamory as far as sex is concerned... I also know that the moment someone would give me a little more importance or attention, i'll leave the rest of my partners and get hooked on to them only to repeat the cycle of heartbreaks and hook ups

Love magnifies everything, including pain. Pain is unavoidable. We are here to experience life.

“He who learns must suffer. And even in our sleep, pain that cannot forget falls drop by drop upon the heart, and in our own despair, against our will, comes wisdom to us by the awful grace of God.” Aeschylus

It’s never stupid to fall in love

I've loved and lost and I'm a little polyamorous, but once you've truly loved, you'll be hooked and it will always be a goal.
blasphemy666 · 26-30, F
@MrK007 I have fallen in love and had a horrible heartbreak and I dread it now. I mean i can still fall in love, but not on purpose...its not going to be a goal for me. I think I just want people to give me attention and when they do come close, all I can think of is- "abort! abort!"
MrK007 · 46-50, M
@blasphemy666 That's understandable. Heartbreak is a terrible thing.
ravenwind43 · 51-55, F
There is no such thing as a no strings attached relationship though people like to pretend there is. Polyamorous rarely works because of human nature.

For someone like me, it is really, really stupid to fall in love...so I tend to avoid such oft painful situations.
Markarth95 · 26-30
After having my heart broken, I left monogamy behind. I only do open relationships, NSA or polyamory now

It can be painful for sure. I think if you prefer a polyamorous lifestyle, then you should pursue it. :)

Personally I prefer to be exclusive.
