I think it's old only in the sense of no longer being able to use your age as an excuse. Even if you're really really cute, people are just not impressed with it anymore, you've been alive a while, they want to know what you can bring to the table. It's an age where people expect you to have things figured out.
I think it's also an age when a lot of people start to accept themselves for who they are and worry less about who does or does not approve. I found getting to that point in my life liberating and very healthy. Its literally what made my 30s and 40s better than my 20s.
