Death penalty or prison for life?

For criminals like Charles Manson?

Human testing.

Prison for life. Death penalty doesn't bring anyone back, it's expensive, not a deterrent, and there's a pretty high rate of false convictions.

The legal system is pretty flawed - where the death penalty exists, innocent people are inevitably executed. Is vengeance worth that price?

I am not a supporter of the death penalty, I think LIFE should mean LIFE with no possibility of parole,
It wouldn't hurt also if there was random torture added onto that also

Life and no contact with the media. Mind boggling that he was given the possibility of parole.

He should have been executed decades ago. What a waste.
Prison I don’t see the death penalty any better than what he did.
Manson originally received the death penalty for his part in the Tate-Labianca murders, as did the others. California briefly repealed the death penalty, and the sentences were commuted to life. In my opinion, a life sentence should mean for life. Parole shouldn’t even be a possibility or duh, it’s not a life sentence. So someone who was on death row at one point should never be walking the streets, unless they were totally exonerated.

His was a weird case. He didn't physically take part in his group's murders...they should all have gotten death. Life in solitary for him made more sense.

@SW-User there's a level of indoctrination where you no longer have capacity to decide for yourself. He was the hand holding his followers as a weapon.

@CheshireCatalyst I don't believe they couldn't make their own decisions. They decided what and how all on their own.

@SW-User so I know a guy who is completely indoctrinated by his mum. I once asked him whether they had any different opinions on anything and be said "no", he didn't even have to think about it.

He can decide what he wants to have for lunch, or decide what to wear in the morning, but if his mum called him and asked him to kill someone he wouldn't think twice. He'd have to do it.
