Why do celebs who've sexually assulted/harassed people wait 'til the last minute to get help?

Frozen · F
Rich people go to therapy, if he was poor he'd be in jail
they go to therapy because they got caught, otherwise, they would still be violating people.

The same reason people take driver safety courses AFTER the crash.

@GwydionFrost Yeah, after. But these guys wait years.

@SW-User It's not a problem until it becomes a class action lawsuit. :P

It’s not “waiting until the last minute”. It’s realizing they’re not the only ones, when one bravely speaks up about it. Then others follow. Victims stay silent for so long because they are afraid. Afraid of being blamed, afraid that nobody would believe them, etc. But when one speaks up, others start to feel a little more comfortable and do the same. When more people come forward, often times it can help their case too.

Only if they see major trouble coming their way, they start grasping at straws
hunkalove · 61-69, M
Like most criminals, first they have to get caught.

I believe it is when their career is on the line. The new notoriety changes the minds of their fans. They may not truly seek a cure or a change. They merely want to be loved by ALL.
I will continue to watch Bill Cosby whenever I see him on T.V.
The questions arise; Why did it take so long for these girls to go PUBLIC?
SeductiveCactus · 26-30, F
Yeah because only celebrities do that. 🙄
I'm sure you'll find that non-celebs going through these things also find it difficult to come forward to get help. Psychological reasons most of the time.
SW-User
@SeductiveCactus Well yeah I know non celebs do the same thing. However, they're not famous and don't recieve attention.
SW-User
Nah... they wait till they're caught.

Frankly, in the current situation... that's just Hollywood liberal penitence, ... and since it's about power and abuse... it's bigger than just needing addiction therapy.
SW-User
That's pretty obvious isn't it ..
