Just curious...how would you react to this? What would you think?

You are in psychotherapy with a good therapist and it's helping you.

One day, after nearly a year of therapy, you arrive for your weekly appointment to discover something very unusual. A formerly vacant office next to your therapist's office has a new tenant and her name is on the door along with "PhD" and "Psychotherapist." And her name is EXACTLY THE SAME AS YOUR OWN.

Also, your name is a very unusual name. In fact, there are only a small handful, maybe 5 or 6 people in north America with that last name. After some careful thought you realize that this person with the same name is probably your very distant cousin, a woman about 10 years younger than you whom you met once for a few minutes years ago. You remember that this distant cousin looks a bit like you, though a bit younger and shorter.

You comment on the strange synchronicity to the therapist; he nods and agrees.

You go home, about a 30 minute drive, and you get a phone call. It's from your therapist's secretary, a woman you've never met. She is very angry. She accuses you of breaking into your therapist's office and stealing files! You are stunned.

She says, "You can't deny it!!! You left your keys here! They're right here! They have your initials on them!"

She says she is going to report this to the police and she says that the security guard in the building recognized you.

You check your purse, find your keys, then realize you are being bullied...and stop, catch your breath and think rationally.

"I did not break into your office! And my keys are right here with me. And...how would I have driven home without them?"

She says she will be calling you back and hangs up.

Then, a minute later, your phone rings and it's the therapist. He sounds embarrassed. He says a mistake was made and you shouldn't worry about it and he can't tell you anything more.

A week later, after only 2 weeks tenancy, the therapist with your name has moved out.

When does Colombo get called in to investors
greenmountaingal · 70-79, F
@biandlargeny Where is he when you need him? Of course, it was only a break-in. I guess Columbo only goes out for murders.

Ever think that you Might Worry about stupid and inconsequential stuff way too much???
It's over with! Your doppelganger distant relative was the cause of this, it's over ... So laugh and go on your way!

@Some1Else If you've read my featured story, you know that these situations might not be mere coincidences. My own take on it involves the distant cousin being the person who did the break in.

@greenmountaingal I don't read the FEATURED stories or other conspiracy theories of
Insane and Truly Crazy Psycho Therapy Patients!!!

@Some1Else If you haven't read it, how do you know it's "crazy" or some sort of conspiracy theory?

I would believe that the therapist if fucking with me. Twisted mind at work.
greenmountaingal · 70-79, F
@MeInCharge I've thought of that, but don't really believe it; he seems honest and has a long time good reputation.
MeInCharge · 41-45, M
@greenmountaingal There's too much coincidence going on here. And the thing about the keys on top of it, with the accusatory tone. Something's off.
greenmountaingal · 70-79, F
@MeInCharge I believe there might be something going on, but I think the therapist is OK. Don't know about why the cousin would break in and leave her keys. Strange.
I am sorry it happened to you .

THEY were totally out of line, unprofessional and even cruel.

And as the B.A. person said, re. your distant relative situation is 'freaky'.
