Look, no offense, but I'm probably better acquainted with the current state of US military readiness than you are, and chanting "smoke and mirrors" over and over doesn't amount to an argument of any kind.

@SageAdvice I'm not the one making any extraordinary claims. Our vast advantage in conventional military power is a fairly well established fact. I could bring up our massive naval dominance, power projection capabilities (the 11 super carriers and associated battle groups), overwhelming air superiority, logistical and intel capacities, etc - but everyone already knows all of those things, they're not in doubt. Nobody even comes close. Russians are still easy seconds, but their power projection capabilities are lagging hard in comparison - and everyone else is even less impressive. There are limits - we'd have a tough time fighting Russia or China [b]on their own soil[/b] - but neither present an even remote threat to us.

No, the onus is on you to demonstrate how the best funded, well equipped, and most experienced force on the planet is smoke and mirrors.

@Jibby Nah. Democrats are incompetent, but Trump has already squandered away much of the support of his base. Only the rigidly ideological remain. 2020 is an open question at this point.
