Why do men make it seem like it's so hard to respect women?

Like, we're humans just like you, I can't believe that's a radical concept
Gangstress · 41-45, F
Ive felt that more so from women. We can be bitchy, malicious, over bearing. When you say respect whar respect do you require and Why? There Is no automatic respect button anymore
plungesponge · 41-45, M
I don't know about that. I've met plenty of women who treated men like garbage, emotional punching bags or walking atms. I'm not saying all women are like that, but there's plenty of shit on both sides.
offingg · 26-30, F
@plungesponge Oh yeah, sexism is definitely about telling you that you know nothing about the female experience in the world bc you're a man, hence have not experienced it, but sure go on.
plungesponge · 41-45, M
That doesn't actually make sense. You're asking about how men treat women, but I can't have any understanding because I'm a man? That's just silly. But I think you know that and are just trying to justify a sulky answer 😂

@plungesponge It doesn't make sense to tell you that you actually don't know about my experiences in the world as a female? ...uh. Okay.
FearfulHarmony49 · 22-25, T
I'm usually considered sexist against men, but your ignorance is highly amusing. Your comments are making me giggle.
offingg · 26-30, F
@FearfulHarmony49 Farewell, wanna be psychopath.
FearfulHarmony49 · 22-25, T
@offingg The fact that you're attempting to get a reaction out of me here suggests that the intention of these posts was to do the same thing on a larger scale. GOODBYE.
offingg · 26-30, F
@FearfulHarmony49 I thought you said farewell? Oh well, I guess i'm the charming one out of both of us. You keep coming back.
Anth1290 · 31-35, M
I am sorry but, have you seen the way some women dress these days, they show more skin than some exotic dancers and such.
I understand women do deserve respect, but nowdays most 'boys' and 'girls' are absolute disgraces with their behaviour.....

@Feuerwehrmann So, in fact, it was an attempt. Why deny it?

Muslims are everywhere, get used to it. I didn't even say you were being islamophobic, like what?

It's not a male thing.

@Miram You're very right. Women do contribute to patriarchy, in fact maybe I should make a post about it. However, here we are talking about the main factor here, why the deflection?
Miram · 31-35, F
@offingg

I see it as the main factor and shouldn't be a problem.

Most social movements today have a problem with ideological purism including feminism. Some people demand that we set out priorities (e.g western feminists only focusing on eastern issues because they are more "serious" than the challenges in the west.) But that task is impossible; we cannot agree on an objective method to determine which is more important; the defense of a woman's reproductive rights or the rights of women to be protected from violence, addressing women promoting inequality or addressing men..You cannot hope that a belief in equality will lead us all to the same priorities. And no matter how divided we are in priorities, the front is the same :equality.

I see it as a core issue to be addressed because it is how we females react to the power structure that is the main solution. If one is demanding equal rights for women or men, those women and men have to be willing to attain those rights, understand them and the responsibilities that come with enjoying them.

*Your question was about disrespect towards females being a male behavior and I responded to that. It was you who deflected by bringing up the patriarchy. I only followed.

Why women expect respect from men in the first place ?
SW-User
@JaggedLittlePill this is not what I mean. I think respect is earned. Please refer to gangster's comment for more information
JaggedLittlePill · 46-50, F
@SW-User no. Respect is not earned. If you want respect you give it. If it is not given back you move on because it wont ever be given back.

Trust. Trust is earned.

Sorry..the world is not all black and white.
offingg · 26-30, F
@SW-User it's not, "Human rights are based on the principle of respect for the individual.".
SW-User
A person is respected regardless of it's gender.
offingg · 26-30, F
@SW-User Unfortunately that's not even close to reality.
Gangstress · 41-45, F
@SW-User i agree. Never really had much trouble being respected by a man. Its more so women for me.
Terrance · 41-45, M
Why do people generalise?
