Jung called it our shadow self............. an unconscious aspect of the personality which the conscious ego does not identify in itself.

There is a very good genuine side and then a more darker side that while most acknowledge it to themselves, would not reveal it to others, because those darker thoughts are not our real nature and those thoughts bring feelings of shame or guilt which make us feel uncomfortable.
