My fingernails are discolored purple?

Healthy nails should be pink not purple. This is not caused by my hands simply being cold. Why is this happening?

You need to see a doctor... it can be a few things... one possibility is that you may have a higher than usual count of red blood cells.... or a problem with your heart and/or lungs... make sure you get checked out...

Purple nail beds indicate your circulation is not good. Not getting enough Oxygen to the tissues...

@purecrazy93: I've seen it measured with a samsung phone. It uses a sensor on the back of the phone. If gave the O2 and heartrate.
