Can someone explain to me what that jolting thing is that some guys do when they're sleeping?

So we had some fun, kissed, rolled. Apart and suddenly he starts jolting out of sleep...

Umm...

WTF!

My experience has been that both sexes do that (I know I do, I know my spouse does). Sometimes it is a reaction to nerves... like restless leg syndrome sort of. Or sometimes I will wake with a start if I hear a noise I do not associate with something familiar (an old leftover military trait..). Or I roll over to a position where a pin or wire presses on a nerve... sort of like an unwanted electrical shock...LOL

My spouse does it when her breathing becomes restricted (think...tongue blocks airway...happens much more often when she has sinus congestion. Or she is simply dreaming.... and sometimes talking in her sleep...some conversations are interesting...some not so much. But something that will ALWAYS wake her (and consequently me) is when she dreams a demonio is chasing her....

@Threepio demonio- as a little girl my grandmother taught me something very powerful. When your having a dream like that don't run.
And believe me I don't have dreams with monsters like that anymore.

I get that sometimes..

When I get a really bad nightmare
Meatboy · 18-21, M
@Mellowgirl Well the mosy recent nightmare I had was being chased by some kind of monster then caught up with me and attacked me, bit into me with it's sharp teeth then I woke up and jolted
Mellowgirl · 31-35, F
@Meatboy that's really scary.
Meatboy · 18-21, M
@Mellowgirl Yeah it was. So it was probably just something like that for him, or just a random jolt

So don't worry 🤗🙂
It is usually an age thing. Your brain produces a chemical that keeps you still... you lose that more as you age and your muscles are more likely to jump as you try to sleep.

@stound wtf man. That's scary!
@Mellowgirl the joys of aging.

It’s actually your brain thinking that you’re about to die so it gives you a jolt. True story. Look it up
Mellowgirl · 31-35, F
@SW-User wtf.
Die.
Random!

@Mellowgirl not really. REM sleep slows down your heartbeat to dangerous levels
Darkskiescoming · 51-55, M
Rapid eye movement. Causes you to act out your dreams.

Could be something called a hypnic jerk. Give it a Google...
Mellowgirl · 31-35, F
@sciguy18 he must have been under a lot of emotional stress.. I think he found falling asleep with me especially difficult
Hypnagogic jerk. Also happens just before you fall asleep.

@SethGreene531 thank you x
Maybe they are pumping up their morning wood?
Mellowgirl · 31-35, F
Only guys do that ?
Mellowgirl · 31-35, F
@bijouxbroussard I don't do it and since I don't and haven't slept with women I'd have no idea of knowing
@Mellowgirl Is this tied in with sex ? Maybe I’m not understanding what you’re describing. When I’ve dreamed I was falling I’ve jumped or jolted in my sleep, but I thought that was just normal.
