You can only vote on one answer.
This is a very sensitive subject for some. But about half of Americans have already rejected this. And have decided not to take the shot at all. Some believe this is toxic. Some say it has side effects. Some say it's mind control. Or the Mark of the Beast. What do you think. Will you be taking that Covid-19 vaccination. Comments.
Crazywaterspring · 61-69, M
I'd rather feel like crap for a day than get the virus. People who pass on the vaccine get zero sympathy when they get sick.

My children work in healthcare. The Covid is real and horrible.
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@Crazywaterspring We know it's horrible. But the agenda remains.
Leaning no. May be required for work. I'm flexible but willing to wait for long term effects of any. Also I've already had it so I would think that a vaccine would be unnecessary
@NerdyPotato in my state that part wouldn't matter. General population gets theirs last. First up is nursing homes and medical workers. At best I couldn't get the shot until March / April
SW-User
@Callmewhatyouwill should still boost your immune response
@SW-User it may, but it sits pretty low on my urgency list.

I mean shit I still have to update my hepatitis and tetanus shots for work
MarmeeMarch · M
But if you want to read more about it - go on google and type this[c=#008099] covid vaccine google scholar[/c]
Zonuss · 41-45, M
Holy cow ! This poll is very accurate! 50/50! Just like real life. Real people giving real answers here. 🤔
NerdyPotato · M
@Zonuss Sadly 50% isn't enough for herd immunity, so let's hope this improves or we'll never have big gatherings again.
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@NerdyPotato No virus lasts forever. Not even a biochemical one. 🙄
NerdyPotato · M
@Zonuss fair enough. You can stop social distancing and wearing masks before the virus is gone and let it run wild until no more suitable host is left alive, but that doesn't sound appealing either.
MarineBob · 56-60, M
Imagine if you will A vaccine so safe one must be threatened to get it,to protect you against a disease so deadly you must be tested to know you have it and the tests could still be wrong
SW-User
@Confined they will, as with all drugs continue safety studies never stop.

But that is no reason to start taking it. There's no reason to believe that will happen.

It might happen... It probably won't.

Do you cross the road? Drive a car? Take paracetamol? All things that have a risk of death associated with them. But you weigh up the risk and continue. The vaccine is on the existing analysed evidence as safe if not safer than those things.
MarineBob · 56-60, M
@SW-User about like the miracle drug off Santa that's now recalled after years of use and approval of the government
SW-User
@MarineBob what miracle drug?
Virgo94 · 26-30, F
[c=#4C0073]Yes I will probably get it. I rather deal with a few side effects for a few days than be sick for weeks. I've seen family end up getting covid and it was sad to see how sick they were although they are healthy people other wise [/c]
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@Virgo94 Hmmmmmm. Ok.
NerdyPotato · M
If half of the people won't take it, the restrictions will never be lifted. I rather contribute to getting back to normal so yes, I will take it.
MarineBob · 56-60, M
@NerdyPotato there's not enough to vaccinate half of the people
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@MarineBob There will be.
TheCoolestCat · 31-35, M
sure why not, a few less americans isnt going to hurt anyone
SW-User
Yes.

No question

See my post on my position https://similarworlds.com/100046-I-Have-Something-To-Say-About-Coronavirus-Covid19/3665904-My-position-on-vaccinations-I-thought-Id-lay-it
I talk about why take it, safety, risk and some conspiracy theories
ArtieKat · M
The UK government have said that Covid vaccination will not be mandatory - the reality, I believe, will be a refusal of entry to sporting events, concerts etc, without being able to show proof of vaccination. If infections and deaths continue to rise in the USA - as I fully expect they will - when they have been brought under control in more enlightened countries, the same policy may be adopted by businesses on your side of the pond.
ArtieKat · M
@NerdyPotato The guy has obviously got pigshit for brains - I'm out of here.
@ArtieKat some business here have already stated that. Ticketmaster being the most notable so far.
@ArtieKat some business here have already stated that. Ticketmaster being the most notable so far.
MarmeeMarch · M
Not right now and not this season - too new of a drug. [c=#BF0080]And no data as to how they did their tests - how many people - age groups - sex- race - healthy or non healthy . [/c] Nope not until it is tested out for 2 years for me.
MarmeeMarch · M
@NerdyPotato Many different treatments being worked on.
NerdyPotato · M
@MarmeeMarch True, but the safety standards are the same for every COVID vaccine and every other vaccine and if any of them killed a single person during the trials, that one won't make it onto the market.
MarmeeMarch · M
@NerdyPotato Sure - I agree - that goes with all the drugs. What I meant was the vaccine platforms are about 6 - or so https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7423510/table/tbl0005/?report=objectonly
By the time they get around to me..... millions will have already been vaccinated.... so truthfully I'm not too worried about being the "Guinea Pig".

I'm a lot more concerned about COVID itself.... in less than a year it has killed a significant portion of my social circle and I am fully aware of it's potential to continue to kill at random.
saragoodtimes · F
of course
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@saragoodtimes 🙂
Keepitsimple · 51-55, F
I’m scared to and covid has already struck my household.
SW-User
@Keepitsimple I highly doubt it. There's very little to indicate do far any side effects.

Do you take any drugs? Especially over the counter ones they pose statistically a much great risk to you.

If you eat meat you're ingesting loads of anti biotic and hormone therapy drugs through that.

You take a risk on everything everyday. But taking this vaccine (or one of the others close to approval) will be one of the safest things you ask that day.
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@SW-User We shall see. 🙂
SW-User
@Zonuss Well after 30 years in industry sime of which spent in close contact with government ministers, advisors, regulators etc I see no evidence.

All I did see is thatost politicians are far less Smart than the advisors they ignore.
Rhodesianman · 56-60, M
I will be taking it because the side effects wont be as bad as death and my GP and specialist wouldnt reccomend it if they felt it was unsafe for me .Everything in life has risk but the risk of not having it is far greater than having it .Anyone who doesnt have it could be a carrier and ignorant of the fact and without the vaccine pass it on to others whom might die because that person was selfish and thought they knew better than scientists .
carpediem · 61-69, M
@Rhodesianman Wrong! I'm taking it, but the guilt trip you're trying to create is bullshit and untrue. If someone doesn't take it, how can they spread it to someone that did? If you're taking it then your safe right?

Try respecting others for a change.
MarineBob · 56-60, M
@Rhodesianman they also wouldn't recommend it if they weren't getting paid to give you a shot or two
Poppies · 61-69, F
Some say some very stupid things!

But I won't be one of the first, in any event. Under 65, no big risk factors. I'll have some time to see how other people make out.
MarmeeMarch · M
@Poppies I went go to google scholar - then typed covid vaccine.
Poppies · 61-69, F
@MarmeeMarch Understand I never made any medical claims at all--I simply stated what was already known--not everyone can be vaccinated at the beginning and those with the biggest risk factors will be first, along with medical personnel and other first responders. Age is one of the risk factors, not the only one. I'm one of the "young old" without other risk factors. Therefore I don't have anything to decide at the beginning--many others will be ahead of me.
MarmeeMarch · M
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
I don't wear a tinfoil hat, hence I'm not an anti-vaxxer. As soon as it's available for me, I'm taking it.
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@basilfawlty89 Careful. 🙂
Turtlepower · 36-40, M
Yeah, I'm not scared of vaccines.
carpediem · 61-69, M
By the time I'm even eligible to take it, I'll feel better that millions have already tested it ahead of me. So yes, I'll take it.

But it should never be forced on the population. If someone doesn't want to their choice should be respected.
PTCdresser57 · 61-69, M
Yes...by the time I get it will be about 6 months from now and we will see how effective they are and if anymore side effects show up.
saragoodtimes · F
@PTCdresser57 imagine if everyone before you started dying 2 days after you get the shot
NerdyPotato · M
@saragoodtimes why would you imagine such horrible things if there is no way that's ever going to happen?
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
Yeah I will whenever it gets to me, I don't care if it's the mark of the beast, hell never scared me.
Jeffrey53 · 51-55, M
Not me I’ll be back of the line. Medical field will be first to take it.
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@Jeffrey53 Good point. 🙂
LadyJ · F
Yes without a doubt
rjc36 · 56-60, M
I do not plan on it.
PrivateHell · M
I won't take it. They really have no idea what the long term results could be yet. And i have heard that at least one getting ready for production has already reported serious side-effects.
PhilDeep · 51-55, M
This survey is for US folk only?
Zonuss · 41-45, M
PhilDeep · 51-55, M
@Zonuss Okay, thanks. In the UK they're going stage-wise, supposedly from most vulnerable first, then moving along to less and less vulnerable. Under 50s like me won't have the option for several months, so not really having to think too much about it.

For some reason medics aren't as high on the list as previously thought, which seems a bit strange to me. I thought usually whoever was innoculating was first innoculated themself, to avoid being an immediate risk, but who knows?

Also they're currently rolling out the Pfizer solution which is mRNA based, apparently the first vaccine of its kind. Later they're more likely to use the Oxford solution, which is more traditional, so I'd prefer that, if anything, frankly.
@PhilDeep I believe that's how most places are doing it because supplies will be limited to start off with
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
No I wouldn't get it
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@smileylovesgaming Because. 🤔
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
@Zonuss it would need properly tested. Not just rushed out
Vegasfor30 · 61-69, M
Hell no
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@Vegasfor30 😆✨
