Is it inappropriate to tell a random woman, "You look good in that color"?

No strings attached... I just wanted her to know she looked good in yellow lol.

"that color" sounds odd to me, but just to say "you look good in yellow" would work for me.

That being said, some people minds would go to, that means she doesn't look good in other colors.

The only way for improvement, I'd say it the other way, "Yellow looks good on you".

It's the same thing, but the color is the subject, so it sounds better to some.
