Are you ever interested in someone...and then you realize they’re religious? 😖

@Harriet03 lmao

To be honest, religious can mean anything. Some use the word spiritual now because of the negative connatations with the word religious. I personally would say I'm religious. I'm certainly spiritual too, I don't really care for words lol. I have no problem with the word religious though. Except the times I look at some of the others that claim to be religious and think "ew, what"

The kind that have a black and white image of everything, with fundamentalist way of perceiving things. That's never settled right with me.
@NickiHijab Yeah, I consider “religious” a broad term that’s why I used it, because I’m referring to all of it. There’s various reasons why I wouldn’t genuinely be interested in someone who’s religious. The main reason is because I don’t have an interest in any of it, but it’s not an issue for people to talk about their religion or beliefs because it doesn’t affect me. It’s just that if it’s someone I’m interested in romantically looking at a long term relationship I wouldn’t Want it to affect the relationship by me not being interested or not wanting to practice it.

@Stark That makes total sense.
Yep. Didn't change my opinion, despite not being religious. Actually, after talking through it a bunch it made me like him more.
SomebodyYouReplaced · 41-45, M
@SomebodyThatYouUsedToKnow ive experienced the same thing..
Talking about our differences with an open mind made us closer..
User41 · 36-40, M
Some times the hot ones are the holiest of holies
@User41 Lol
Fauxmyope2 · 26-30, F
That hasn’t happened in my life yet. It wouldn’t necessarily be a deal breaker unless they were over the top and assertive about it. I would be wary though.
@Fauxmyope2 yeah, it wouldn’t be a complete deal breaker for me either, because I’ve dated religious people, and it’s been fine. The funny thing is they never bring it up while we’re dating.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
I met a few awesome religious persons but I know what you mean. I suddenly start feeling uncomfortable and think if I didn't say something that offended them.
SW-User
It hasn't been a problem since I don't meet many people like that but i think it could be depending on how deeply involved in their religion they were
Reigns · 31-35, M
Hmmm I think it depends on how religious they are. I don't mind people being religious, as long as they don't try to push it on me in a very aggressive manner.
SW-User
What's wrong with religious?

You mean like the in your face listen to me religious?
@SW-User my reply to someone else

@Stark fair.
SW-User
Yep, it bought me giggles and also disappointing to see someone so deeply obsessed with their beliefs
DrWatson · 70-79, M
You told one person that you honestly don't care about a person's religious views, and then you told someone else that being religious is the worst crime there is.🤷‍♂️
DrWatson · 70-79, M
@Stark I didn't think you were using "crime" literally! 😄 But I did assume you were exaggerating in order to express that you really disliked someone being religious. I guess I misunderstood.
@DrWatson no I was just kidding I don’t care about anyone’s religion unless I’m dating you then I care which is the whole point of the post.
DrWatson · 70-79, M
@Stark Gotcha! 👍️
marsbar · F
Yes, especially if they’re a different religion than me & quite devout
SW-User
Yes. And if they can't respect my own beliefs then it'll be an issue.
@SW-User Yeah, I honestly don’t really care about people’s religious views. I just don’t want it pushed on me or for it to be overwhelming if I’m dating you.
Its too much & makes me uncomfortable.
@DarlingSelah Lol. It can Definitely be too much if you don’t care about it.
Did I ever tell you about a friend of mine? His name is Jesus.
Allelse · 36-40, M
Yep. It's like finding out somebody smokes, ugh.
SW-User
it's happened a few times
SW-User
It's a deal-breaker for me lol
Carver · 31-35, F
Lol, yep. God damn jackanapes. 🙄
[c=#359E00]okay, this post is dissapointing considering come from you[/c]
@YukikoAmagi idk why people have this image of me on here that I’m someone I’m not. I’m as honest and can be just as “mean” or “nice” as anyone else on here lol. I’m a person.
@Stark [c=#359E00]why? Spread hate toward religion. That's low and i'm done with you, not a loss for both of us[/c]
@YukikoAmagi There was no hate spread, I just said I’m not interested in religious people. Whichhhhh I have the right to feel that way without it being considered hate.

I’m not really sure who you are.. 🤷🏽‍♀️ so, it’s okay if you’re done with me.
Ryannnnnn · 31-35, M
That actually wouldn't be a turn off for me. If anything it might be a bonus.
Keepitsimple · 51-55, F
Yes. But they still want to fool around and see the garbage on this site 😂
StevetheSleeve · 31-35, M

JohnOinger · 41-45, M

rjc36 · 56-60, M

JohnOinger · 41-45, M
@Stark So what do you think of Tim Fields & Would You Do Him
ABCDEF7 · M
Is that a crime?
@ABCDEF7 the biggest one there is
ABCDEF7 · M

SW-User

Straylight · 31-35, F
Like, how religious are we talking?
Degbeme · 70-79, M

Mrsbetweenfatandfit · 26-30, F
I was always more concerned with how they’d feel that I’m not quite sure of any religion than I was with them having their faith. In fact I’m now married to a man who is religious, reads his book, goes to church & we turned out to be right together even with a big difference like that. 😇
@Mrsbetweenfatandfit yeah, I guess it just depends on the people who are involved in the relationship. It can work for some and not for some.
Mrsbetweenfatandfit · 26-30, F
@Stark absolutely! There were actually a few people that tried to convince my husband not to because of our difference. We all have different needs with compatibility
@Mrsbetweenfatandfit yeah, I’ve dated plenty of religious people, and it’s been fine but none of them really practiced their religion or took it seriously. Like, my ex was spiritual, and was into doing certain things but he rarely spoke about it or truly followed it because he wasn’t as traditional as his family.
