Is it unusual for a married couple to not want children?

Like if a husband and wife just doesn't want the responsibility of raising them and would rather spend their life with just one another.

We live in an area where there are number of retirees from different parts of the country. The couples without children were able to retire earlier and with more wealth than those who had been parents.

@LamontCranston I might just be satisfied with getting married anyway and having alone time with the wife.
@Billybob2 true. i'm just suggesting there may be financial considerations which tilt the scales.
But there are memories which can't be replicated, like the time i had to post bail for one of them....🙂

@LamontCranston that I could probably do without, lol
I think it probably is unusual. Or at least not the majority.
I don't think there's anything wrong with it though.
Once you have children your life is no longer your own and that's just not something all of us are ok with.
Not at all. Being married is already a big enough responsibility and commitment as it is, let alone raising kids.

@latinbutterfly I mean I like children, but I'm not sure if I want that big responsibility of raising one from childhood to adulthood.
@Billybob2 I can tell you from experience that being a parent is definitely tough and sometimes stressful 🤷🏻‍♀️.

@latinbutterfly yeah, not sure if the future Mrs and I could give up our alone time.

No its not unusual. It's unfortunate that if you reconsider later, you may not have the time.

@Luchs I definitely feel just getting married would be enough for me personally, I'd just want my hubby.

@WendyLopez43 there's nothing wrong with that.
It's not unusual at all, I know alot of couples who don't want kids. It's perfectly normal.
