Do you regret your marriage, and why?

nedkelly · 61-69, M
Will be married for 40 years in August and still love the old lady, all marriages have ups and downs

No and Yes.

I met my wife when I was 18 and she was 16. We've been together ever since. We have a good marriage and I'd not really want to change that but we were obviously so naive when we met. Do I look with envy on some that have experienced things we never will, yes but it's probably a grass is greener thing.

I regret marrying so young.

I regretted my first one...but my second (the one I'm in now) there is no regrets at all. It is the best thing that ever happened to me in my life. My first wife turned out to be all about herself and a serial cheater. The woman I am married to now is the kindest, sweetest, most caring/giving/compassionate/loving, and interesting person I have ever met and known in my entire life. She is my partner, my lover, and my best friend all rolled up into one...my wife.

I have two beautiful children from that marriage so no regrets. We were just wrong for each other.

@Stereoguy yes. Nothing is perfect but yes. Who knows what my life would be if I chose another path I could be happy there also.
goliathtree · 56-60, M
Are there things I wish were different? Absolutely.

Can I go back in time? No.

Would I change things if I could? Unlikely.

Yep. Too young, too wounded. We are good friends now.

No he’s a sweetheart.

Yes.
The more I analyse it the more convinced I am that I did it because it seemed a good idea at the time rather than because it was something I felt strongly about.

I have never regretted it. My ex was bipolar I found out after we married but had four wonderful kids, I had to leave however as I could not take her anger issues any more and it was best for the kids. I remarried a wonderful lady and have been married to her for twenty six years, my ex and I get along very well and did since the divorce for the sake of the kids. Everything worked out well.

So it was all a learning experience, no one was permanently harmed.
