Is marriage proposal after just one year considered too ealry?

Would you accept the propsal if it were you? My bf has been talking about marriage a lot with me and today he proposed.
tutku · 26-30, F
All I can say is, my parents got married 6 months after they met and I wish they never did. They hate each other's guts 😂 I don't think a year might be too different
It really depends though, on how much you get to know the person and stuff like that.

@tutku i'm sorry to hear that i wonder why they got married if they couldn't stand each other.
tutku · 26-30, F
@SW-User They were in love in the first years of their marriage but apparently things changed after I was born
greenmountaingal · 70-79, F
@tutku No matter how much you think you know someone, it's not the same as being married to that person.
IamCuriousBabe · 51-55, F
This is a twist to a known saying: It's not the number of years you have loved each other, but how much you have love for each other in those years.

But overall, I think a well-planned life of being together would be something good to focus on other than just the wedding details.
I don't think so. It's not about how long so much as do you know them.
SW-User
@SensitiveSoul i think 3 years is a fairly resonable time.
SensitiveSoul · 51-55, M
@midnightrose like you say.... it’s how you know the person. Others’ opinions really matter not!
SensitiveSoul · 51-55, M
@SW-User we felt so as well!
You know your life better than anyone else on this planet …. so the only opinion that matters is yours....

FWIW: I knew I was going to marry my wife after a month of dating, but I waited a year to ask her out of respect for her cultural traditions. Been together 30+ years....
SW-User
@Threepio I'm so happy for you guys i hope the same happens to me.
JupiterDreams · 31-35
Everyone's different. Some don't mind getting married after a year, some want to wait a few years...

I feel like a year is too quick imo. I'd rather wait a few years, as a lot can change in 4-5 years. But if you feel in your heart it's the right decision, go for it. :)
DragonSlayerr · 26-30, F
I mean my parents got married after one and a half year of dating. Been together for almost 30. It really depends on the person and their morals. Also you. As long as you both respect each other’s decisions.
FloorGenAdm · 51-55, M
I always figured most people did that when she got pregnant.
SW-User
@FloorGenAdm That's what seems to happen in msot cases but i'm no pregnant yet he wants to have kids after marriage.
greenmountaingal · 70-79, F
I once read that the longest happiest marriages began after a courtship period of 6 months to a year and a half. From observation over a long lifetime, that seems to be what I have observed. If you want to marry him, now is the time.
SW-User
@greenmountaingal Thank you I'll say yes to him tomorrow.
KA9ha · 31-35, M
whats the harm in giving a nod but getting him to hold on.
KA9ha · 31-35, M
@SW-User well i can only guide you with my logic...its upto you... but let me say"opportunity knocks your doors once"
SW-User
@KA9ha Thank you for your guidance i decided to except the proposal.
KA9ha · 31-35, M

[c=#BF0080]Well congrats! I don’t think it’s too soon if you love each other, but if you’re having doubts maybe you’re just not ready for it. Maybe not. Go with your gut 🙂[/c]
SW-User
@MellyMel22 Thank you i said yes to him today it just felt right.

I knew after a few months that I'd marry my husband, we discussed it, but didn't get engaged for 3 years as we had no money.
SW-User
@SW-User I guess i'll go for it.
SW-User
@SW-User are you in love? 🥰🥰🥰 don't do it unless you are really positive that he's the one
SW-User
@SW-User Yes i'm deeply in love with him he treats me a like a queen and i feel like he's the one for me.
Dshhh · M
Takes a year to get to know smomeone
Mabe consider it.
But if you PLAN on marriage DONOT move in till yuo get married
I think id know who id want to marry quicker than that but a year is perfect
SW-User
@DarlingSelah Thank you 🤗
Kerrmit84 · 36-40, M
13 months from first date to proposing for me, knew i wanted to propose several months before
Success · 26-30, F
6 months should be enough time to gauge a person.
walabby · 61-69, M
It's only too early if you think it is...
A year is plenty of time, especially when you get to a certain age and know what you want fairly soon.
Everyone is different
SW-User
No, of course not. That is plenty of time to decide if he is the one.

We don't know your situation, or him, so only you can be the judge of that - compatibility is important. But certainly one year is not too soon.
"Marriage is not by any to be entered into unadvisedly or lightly; but reverently, discreetly, advisedly, soberly, and in the fear of God." Sounds like good advice.
Had a pastor who waited a weekend. Last time I checked, they were still going on strong after something like 30 years
SW-User
@ImperialAerosolKidFromEP It's never too early i guess.
