Have you tried couple's counseling?

How'd it go?
TeresaRudolph71 · 51-55, F
Yes, I've tried it, a little. It didn't go very well. I felt that the doctor we were seeing was biased. My boyfriend had known him for many, many years, and I always felt that when I had an issue that I wanted to bring up, or we were having a conflict and I wanted someone who was impartial to help us resolve it in a manner that would be fair to both of us, he almost always seemed to feel that my boyfriend was right about everything, and I was always wrong. I understand that I can be wrong sometimes, but I don't think I'm wrong all the time. Also, he and my boyfriend, together, would often steer the conversation in a different direction if I wanted to talk about something that my boyfriend didn't really want to talk about. I often felt that I was swimming against a very powerful current that was taking me somewhere I didn't want to go. So I quit going to him. I told my boyfriend that we would have to go to someone else, and he didn't want to do that, so we just haven't gone to anyone. Surprisingly, things actually seem to be going a little better for the most part, for the time being anyway.

Yes, not so well. My husband is the counselor.

@SweetMae Tell your husband he's a lucky man.

Yes, and at some point it always turns either formulaic, or into the stereotypical "husband...you can't change anyone but yourself...but of course she's not happy because of something you're doing/not doing."

No, but it worked for somebody ik...requires motivation...
