How do you get over someone you love the idea of being in a relationship with?

I'm not sure I understand the love the idea part.

I tell myself they are happy. The possibility of a relationship never came up and that's because it wasn't meant to be. And that they are happier and their life is more simple then if I had a relationship with them.
