Depends on the people in the relationship.

I think so, I have been in a long distance relationship for the last three years and counting. Hopefully it won't be long distance much longer. So yes, I think so.

What are the "hardships" . They are basically just an acquaintance. Have no real expectation, let them just be a sort of fantasy from time to time.
