Should a couple wait until marriage to be intimate?

I personally don't think that is necessary, but I am posting this question because someone else posted it before but deleted it. The original poster of this question may answer, it won't be deleted this time.

I commented on another post like this recently. People don't know they are compatible until intercourse, and with even religious people getting divorces the whole concept of one partner for life has been seriously undermined.

The best sex is not always with the person/people you love the most. As the great Victoria Wood once wrote "Did the earth move? No, but the wardrobe door came open" - I can identify with that

@ArtieKat That is a great quote!

@CoffeeFirst It was actually a spoken introduction to this performance:

I rather have sex before marriage. What if they are lousy in bed? 😩
Wol62 · 51-55, M
@SW-User I agree, I've known plenty of women that were shit in bed.

Then you’re stuck lol. That would suck too 🤣🤣@SW-User

I think that is a personal choice. That said, I would very much have liked to have been a virgin when I married my Husband.

@BrookeBondage I can't say it would have many any difference, except my Husband would have been the only person I had ever had sex with (by choice), instead of the 3rd person. It would have been something special I could have given my Husband. I would have liked myself more if that would have been the case, but you can't change the past, and I can't say that I think my way is the best for anyone else. I think my notions are very old fashioned and probably not how most folks think, but I do look up to people that wait until they are married.🤷‍♀️

To each their own but I think there is value to finding out what you partner is like sexually. For instance, if they have a low sex drive, that probs won't change and that's no fun.
No. If you wait and you become dissatisfied, you will be stuck. If I had been sexually active as a teen, I wouldn't have settled for the man I was intimate with. I have an amazing adult son though. And I support sex before marriage now.

@PoetryNEmotion I agree. You make a very good argument.
@ninjavu It is the truth. From my life experience. That is why it is meaningful.

@PoetryNEmotion We agree again. :)

I don't think waiting is a good idea. What if one person really doesn't have any interest in sex while the other does? Unless they really talk about their interest in this way then it could cause a lot of relationship stress and most couples don't communicate that well with sex even when they are doing it so to expect it all to be spelled out before hand seems unlikely.

Personally, I think it's unhealthy if the wedding is delayed. But I respect the decision. I just think it's sad when a person with healthy sexual drive in his or her best years has to fight it off because of strong indoctrination from their family.
I don’t think women should have to give up the best part of their life to someone who does not want to commit.@CrazyMusicLover

@Spoiledbrat Women don't have to anything. It's their personal decision. But I feel sorry for them if their belief is stronger than the desire of healthy sexual life and they either rush into a marriage too soon with a wrong person or they postpone their first sexual experiences even though their body and mind want it so much.

I don’t think they should be made to but there is value in waiting.

I have zero use for abstinence, I am simply too sexual. But if that's what someone wants, then s be it. Some people also like Adam Sandler movies or Republican politics, but I wouldn't give them a shout either.
I don't think so. That's pretty much of a religion-related thing, and I don't have a religious bone in my body.
How is it religious? @PhoenixPhail
@Spoiledbrat Religion, at least Christianity, says people aren't supposed to have sex outside of marriage.
Yes they do or they did. I haven’t been to church in twenty years. I don’t see anything wrong with waiting. That’s all. @PhoenixPhail

No.You may be not compatible or your partner may have zero sex skills.I didn't wait and my first time was my 14th birthday.

Some guys just won't buy the cow if they're already getting free milk.
@PrivatePeeks I never liked comparing women to cows. Lose that one for sure.

It's a personal choice, for me that choice was yes, wait until marriage

That could be a prison sentence if you don’t know what you’re getting first.

It´s up to you.
But be sure to wait until marriage to get divorced.
It’s up to the couple, obviously. But assuming sex will be important in the relationship, the wedding night would be an awful point at which to discover sexual incompatibility. 😱
it depends on the couple, their beliefs and values.
