When on a date, do you consider "rude towards waiters/waitresses" a red flag?

Eternity · 26-30, M
My last girlfriend was actually kinda rude to service people if they got the slightest thing wrong. Should have taken it as a red flag
Rude to people in general is a red flag but definitely that. I like gracious people.

Was always an immediate deal breaker for me
TexChik · F
Did your date do that ?
NorthernRoses · 22-25, F
@TexChik Nah, just came over a list of dating red flags. 😊 I know people who have a bad habit of getting pretty rude when the staff seemingly messes up something, so.

Huge red flag 🚩

Yes. How a person treats those under them, or those serving them in any way, is a good test of character.

Yes, especially if it’s unprovoked.

maybe it's just me but if you're with someone that can turn a "What's your order?" "This" situation into an ordeal, you're going to notice that shit way before you get to the restaurant

WITHOUT a doubt!

Just ask yourself “is that something that I would do ? or my best friend would do?” If the answer is no way, your date is also a “no-way bf”

Absolutely! I used to buss tables for a Denny's restaurant, most of the time from 10:00pm Saturday nights till 6:00 am Sunday mornings. At 1:00 am, guess what happened. All the city's bars closed, and the drunks went to Denny's for coffee.

That right there was enough to teach me to treat servers and staff with dignity.

Those who cannot treat their fellow humans like, well, "fellow humans", don't deserve my friendship. And if I were to begin dating someone like that, I would be ending my dating of said someone posthaste.

There never is a red flag but that isn't a good sign at all. In fact i'll remind them to correct it soon enough
Depends how rude the waiter is
billybcgn25 · 70-79, M
@Qwerty14, Hmmm... I try to give the benefit of the doubt. One person was like that at a municipal airport's little cafe; I treated her with courtesy, and before it was done we discovered that there were some serious family issues going on in her life. We ended up eating there several times, and each time, we had a chance to visit with her, and we became quite fond of her.

Always remember, servers have lives outside of the tables they are waiting, and they may be under some bad stress. <3
@billybcgn25 You could say that about anyone at any time. So either way it still isn't a red flag. It's easy enough to say either party shouldn't be rude but remember that only one of them is getting paid not to be rude.
billybcgn25 · 70-79, M
@Qwerty14, yes, you're right. I stand corrected. Perhaps one of these days, I'll come to understand human nature, as I grow older.

YES, 😒I used to be a waitress and it's hard work. I remember getting yelled at once for the food a customer didn't like and I told him with a smile I'd tell the cook...he STILL wouldn't shut up! 👎🏼 Soon after I quit because of all the rudeness.
