Is it a good idea for a website owner to patent the name of the websitr and register it as a company?

@dondon what is it then? Can't get the word ...

It might depend on the country you are in, but something like a brand registration. the little tm or r you see behind brands and logos.

a patent, at least in america, is opening something for the general public.

When you make a website, no one else can grab the url you have, you purchase the url and it's yours. They might use your url and add something to it, but not the exact same. I imagine that facebook, since they're a prospering company, have bought many url's that involve versions of facebook, just to not let others have it.
