Why is it so hard to fill out any information on a profile?
Oh you love the outdoors... wtf is anyone supposed to do with that? I’m not even talking about the obviously fake profiles either.

I think it's so difficult because we wouldn't be filling out a profile if we didn't want people to kind of know who we are. But we certainly don't want them to know who we REALLY are (recently divorced, shattered, struggling as a newly single parent, afraid I'll
end up alone, despise my job but I'm chained to it because...bills, so mostly I get drunk) so we try show without exposing. That's like walking a tightrope.

Why do so few people give an indication of who they are on their profile?
And why do so many people make contact without first checking the profile?
I noted Mamapolo's comments below, and they are probably accurate -
but to me that suggests an inability for many people to see how just a few basic details could hugely improve their social experiences here.

@hartfire I think the answer to 'why don't they check profile before contacting' is because some don't care what you want, only what they want.
