I think it's so difficult because we wouldn't be filling out a profile if we didn't want people to kind of know who we are. But we certainly don't want them to know who we REALLY are (recently divorced, shattered, struggling as a newly single parent, afraid I'll

@Captainjackass Actually I don't, at all. None of those issues are mine. I meant them as examples. It doesn't matter. Sometimes we do choose appropriate names, eh?

Why do so few people give an indication of who they are on their profile?
And why do so many people make contact without first checking the profile?
I noted Mamapolo's comments below, and they are probably accurate -
but to me that suggests an inability for many people to see how just a few basic details could hugely improve their social experiences here.

@hartfire I think the answer to 'why don't they check profile before contacting' is because some don't care what you want, only what they want.
