Would you date a coworker? Why or why not?

Lostpoet · M
No. Because I work with only guys.

I had, years ago, a may be (not so) typical experience.

We were (are) colleages and worked together for long years previous to dating.
Almost three years as coworkers.
Then we become bussines partners, a great team.
So much that people that there was a joke among common friends, colleagues and others that we were a better "couple" than most marriages.

Never untill we both got divorced (she did it earlier) but some months later, we recognized what seemed to be there since long ago.
Mutual admiration, close friendship and a never said sexual attraction.
Ours, and for two years was what you may call exclusive "bussines partners with benefits".

It worked well, we are still friends, but the first intent to rise it to another level, ended both, the relationship and the bussines team.

Does it counts as an answer?
Make this any sense?

No. It would get absolutely cringeworthy at work if we broke up. That’s one boundary I never recommend crossing

I actually married one. We later got divorced.

Never. If things don’t work out, then you’ll be forced to see the other person every single day. This is hugely uncomfortable and can affect job performance, especially if you try to avoid each other when you should be working as a team.

No, never fish off the company pier, when it goes bad you still get to see them most everyday
NiftyWhite · 46-50, F
i did once. prob wouldn’t again. your business becomes everyone’s business. was awkward when we were fighting or when we broke up because people who didn’t know would still come up to me and say shit like “can you tell bob that (insert message here)” and then i’d have to explain bob was an ass. i actually told one coworker to put it in everyone’s ear that it was over just so they wouldn’t put their foot in their mouths.

I married my co-worker and we later got divorced. Back in the day, in the high tech Startup world, it was standard for everyone to date co-workers, as we had no life, outside of work.

There was a lot of sexual harassment as well.
Marcette88 · 36-40, F
We are not allowed to have a relationship with anyone above us or under us in the reporting structure. I could date someone from another department or something, but these things can tricky really fast and would really have to think hard about it.
kate21 · 26-30, F
No. If it doesn’t work out you still have to see them. Could get ugly. They could gossip about you with things you only tell sexual partners. Plus there’s always the risk of being accused of harassment

Nope. Most of the people I work with are in their 30’s and 40’s and married. The one coworker I find really attractive has a son 5 years older than me 😂
Yohkomori · 31-35, M
ive written about this actually. On the one hand its alluring, on the other it can ruin your job to "shit where you eat" like that....
ineedadrink · 51-55, M
It's risky for people with careers. Jobs you don't need or care about so much, it's not as big a deal.
76starships · 46-50, M
I did and it worked out. Just not from the same small work unit, that can get weird.

I would... but there are risks that one must acknowledge.
SirEldridge · 26-30, M
If they are a nice cute thang then hell yes
Rokasu · 36-40, M
Never again. Unless it was just that good.
DIMaverick4 · 41-45, M
I would love an affair with a co-worker ;)
Sicarium · 46-50, M
I wouldn't automatically rule it out.
Yes, I did. We've been married for 18 years.
SW-User
Absolutely! I married mine 28 years ago.
No. I see it as a place of business, not a dating place.
Caprice · 41-45, F
No. Some things are best kept separate
patkaren1717 · 36-40, M
Yes, and i married her 7 years ago.
MessieNessie · 36-40, F
