Whats the difference between

WordPress.com and WordPress.org? I'm trying to start a blog and am trying to create a WordPress account

"The one major difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org is who’s actually hosting your website.

With WordPress.org, YOU host your own blog or website. WordPress.org is where you’ll find the free WordPress software that you can download and install on your own web server.

WordPress.com, on the other hand, takes care of all of the hosting for you. You don’t have to download software, pay for hosting, or manage a web server."

@Mordi so .com is a better bet for an amateur newbie like me?
Mordi · 31-35, M
Probably. I just googled it. 🤷

Why not learn how to code a website yourself? :D
Heretodaygonetomorrow · 26-30, F
@MartinTheFirst how does one begin? I know nothing about it.

@Heretodaygonetomorrow i suggest you go with square space instead of wordpress. In squarespace you can edit the CSS (which is the way things look on your website). You then google everything you can and need for CSS to make your site look better. When you're finished with your website you should be good enough at css and html to at least start writing your own website... That's how I started about one year ago. I now know html, css and a little bit javascript. I've now made my own website which I will launch in a month.

Skills are valuable to have 😊
