As a single women, did u ever dreamed of being married? and what does marriage mean to u?

its not just the party and dress right? or is it?

Two separate events. The wedding and the marriage. Too many people put too much into the wedding and forget about the marriage which is soon over because the wedding was much more important.

@hippyjoe1955 Average engagement ring these days - $6k. Average wedding, $30k. Absurd. Why not start the marriage with a down payment on a house ready to go instead?
@QuixoticSoul Absolutely. We have relatives who had an elaborate honeymoon and have been renting a home for years.
Never thought about marriage until my several of my coworkers quit bc their husbands wanted them home instead. So now its a fantasy of mine lmao
@DarlingSelah Would you prefer to be a homemaker ?
@bijouxbroussard oh yeah :D i mean, i already am. I just do it for myself lol

Noooo. I dreamt of a career, of being independent.

I've never dreamt of it. Still don't dream of it but do want to be in a commited relationship and be loved and supported. I don't have that. I've never had that.

I didn’t even think I would be interesting enough for any man to want to date, so no. I started thinking (dreaming) about it when I met Mr. Right.
I think about my wedding day occasionally but not about being married. It’s no different than a live in partner.

No It wasn't in my initial plans ...I was going to be an independent lady with a career and planned on adopting...but that all changed
It seems so long ago that I was single. Marriage is very satisfying for me. I enjoy being married to my best friend.

I never dreamt of marriage or specifically a wedding. I did however dream of true romance. Of finding “the one”.
The party was really an afterthought. We got married at City Hall, our witnesses were my best girlfriend, and his brother. Our families threw a party which was the only thing resembling a reception and his mother baked the cake.
I didn’t think about marriage that much growing up.
@jackson55 A car accident, along with our son.

@bijouxbroussard I'm sorry, so sad. Years ago the young woman I was about to marry was killed by a careless taxi driver. She was only 20. I have some idea of how you feel.
@jackson55 I’m so sorry you experienced that loss too. They were coming to get me from work and were hit by someone drunk on the freeway.

I personally never thought much about a wedding or marriage before about a year ago. But the wedding is not the marriage. It’s just a party to celebrate your commitment & love to each other in the presence of those who care about you & support you. Planning a wedding is annoying but hoping the time spent with family from far away getting to know my new husband. I hope it’ll be fun for everyone. Marriage isn’t something I have experience in. I just know it’s hopefully your most trusted friend & someone you choose to love even on days you don’t like them. It’s supposed to be a learning experience for the two people. I’m very excited to start this part of our lives.

Marriage has its ups and downs, hopefully more ups than downs. The best of luck with a long and happy marriage.
