What are your thoughts on cheating in a marriage?

My friend is being cheated on but she don't wanna leave her man.. smh..
Graylight · 51-55, F
It really depends on a lot of factors, like how serious the relationship is, what the impetus for cheating is, whether she and he both really want this relationship, whether both are willing to work on it, and more.

Infidelity isn't the sum of an entire relationship, just a finite point in it. Nor does it have to signal the end of the relationship; in fact, it may serve to clarify situations and provide a launching pad for change.

In the end, it's your friend who has to make her choices. Either way, she's apt to lean from them.
@Graylight Well said.
No one never knows what happens behind closed doors so even though it's wrong I'll never judge or criticize...

Then it’s her fault for staying

By not leaving, your friend is condoning her husband's behaviour and empowering him to continue, and probably accepting a less than happy life for herself. I think she should leave and find someone who will treat her properly.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
I think it makes a mockery of the vows, it's cowardly because they're are just too weak to do the decent thing and end it and move on if they are no longer happy and it can't be fixed..I would never stay with a cheat as I know I'm worth more respect than that..

I think it's their business. Even if it's my friend, I wouldn't get involved unless things turned abusive.

I’m against cheating but you really don’t know what goes on behind closed doors. best just to be a good friend.
That’s her choice. And she loses all right to complain about it if she puts up with it.
cycleman · 61-69, M
why bother. get a lawyer and file.
Crypticfeels · 31-35, M
@cycleman that’s what i said.

Cheating is despicable, cowardly and deplorable.
It has a devastating effect on the one who is being cheated on. It changes a person. Horribly.
ImpeccablyImperfect · 51-55, F
@Benjr134 ugh me too.
I'm sorry you had to deal with that. I've often wondered if men are affected in the same ways as women seem to be ?
Benjr134 · M
@ImpeccablyImperfect It all depends on the man. I’m not overly sensitive but when I get attached I’m attached.
ImpeccablyImperfect · 51-55, F
@Benjr134 As it should be 😊

Depends on why your friend won't leave.
Cheating is a horrible betrayal of someone's faith. And yet it seems like people don't care about it or think twice before they betray people they love.

You shouldn't cheat in a marriage. But if your being used to cheat in a marriage it's not your fault. Trying to be not a hypocrite.... And failing 😂

I have stopped trying to figure out why some people stay together.

I would hope that I would leave .. but who knows?

Things get more complicated when the surface is not the only thing one sees.
