What do you think is more important today, in our generation, looks or personality?

The same as all the other generations before us.
BlueDiver · 36-40, M
That's too simplistic of a question - it's not binary. Until you meet a person, all you have to go on is looks. And not just in terms of attractiveness - but does the person look smart? - do they look like they'd be interesting to talk to or do they look fun or energetic. What's their body language like, which I guess is a combination of both looks and personality? So many of our judgements on people have to be made without actually getting any information on them aside from what they look like. And in all of those contexts - of which there are many - looks are the only thing that matter.

But then there are the other contexts - the ones where you're actually talking to the person or spending time with them or doing business with them or whatever, and in all of those contexts, personality matters a hell of a lot more than looks. Except that, how many of those closer sorts of contexts do you miss out on, because you have a look or put out a vibe that pushes people away?

At the end of the day, I think that personality matters more (which I think most people would agree with), but that looks help a lot in initiating the kinds of connections where personality gets revealed. They both matter.

Personality always
😕 sadly looks. personality can help grab attention but looks is what keeps them there, the physical attraction helps a lot to draw people to you.

Agree
Serenitree · F
I think it will always be personality that will carry a relationship. Looks may be a starting point, but there had better be some character, intelligence and charisma supporting the looks, or it will get old fast.

Looks fade. Personality changes with experiences that influence our lives. Character is for life.

Personality wins every time. :)
thatgirllllll · 22-25
Personality. If they are attractive, then even better. But once you like someone for their personality, they automatically become attractive in my opinion
indyjoe · 56-60, M
@thatgirllllll That is exactly how I feel about it. It's amazing how a beautiful inside can greatly improve the view of the outside...It's simply because when the mind heart and spirit are what you truly love, the imperfections of the outside are not that significant noticeable or important.
Personality, looks fade over time. Looks are generally cosmetic, male or female.

But the soul of a person, of it is pure, and true, never changes.
indyjoe · 56-60, M
@Elandra77 And that soul can make those looks appear less faded as we age together...I agree with you 100%🤠👌
missit15 · 56-60, M
sad but looks get everyone's attention but its a personality that will keep your heart forever....

Looks are the first thing you see and make judgements on, but personality is more important in the long run.
mountainman1234 · 70-79, M
Personality ,,,, looks can fade and change but personality lasts for ever
People chooose according to their intellect and thought process.
Magenta · F
This generation? Looks. It's the selfie craze.
Vikush · 31-35, F
@Magenta i agree, looks. Some people have said personality but it does not translate in the real world and market place
indyjoe · 56-60, M
We live in a shallow world...looks take priority. Ideally it should be personality. Our society and culture is obsessed with perfection, it expects it and even demands it. Looks are important to an extent, but there are other things much more so. Until we learn and accept that things will never improve or change.
mountainman1234 · 70-79, M
Personality as it will last longer then looks ,,

Personality because I think it's what really define people and who they are. If I don't like how someone looks, I can live with that and ignore it. Personality you have to deal with tho ^^'
