Do you believe in long distance relationships?

Could be 5 hours, could be in another country. do you think it could work? Thoughts/opinions?

One day a LDR couple may come to the point where they choose to be together by settling to one place together or to break apart. LDRs are also annoying since you never know whether your partner actually faithful, since they don't see you often, and the most you could do is skype or facetime.

They work. I've had several. Also turned out to be better than the ones that weren't long distance.

They are ok in the beginning but over time the distance can wear on you. You are constantly jealous of other couples who can see each other whenever they want and often feel lonely even though you are in a "relationship."

99.9% no. Not if the distance isn't closed. Pheromones, neurochemicals, touch, these are important things that long distance relationships lack. Humans weren't built for those kinds of relationships. They won't last.

Possibly,if both really wanted it and worked on it and didn't take their frustrations out on the other person, be two rare souls that could pull that off, but sure they exists somewhere.

most of the time they dont work. and you have to have a plan on meeting up, if not its no different than a pen-pal with benefits.
SW-User
@SW-User agreed. chances are if you don't meet early on, you're never going to meet at all
dumpstermeow · 41-45, F
I've been in one. I got to travel and see a lot of things I wouldn't have otherwise.
I've met people for whom it worked coz they worked on theirs.

period.

Yeah. It depends on the people involved.

Was in one..it failed miserably. It was too hard to sustain because of the distance (among other things). Time apart made it possible for our hearts to grow apart. There wasn't enough technology in the world that could make it work. To those who have, I'm in awe, and to those who are entering into that world, best of luck! ☺

it can work if you're both willing to make it work.

done it twice and both times one way or another it ended in a broken heart and bs. i’d never do it again. obviously it can work out for people but it’s not something i’d be willing to do again
SailorMarz · F
Yeah. There’s nothing hard about it. Except for the fact that you can’t touch them...but thats only when i’m feeling especially needy.

They work if you have a plan to make them less long distance pretty early. Otherwise they fail. That's my experience anyways.
nahright09 · 41-45, M
as long as you're on the same page about expectations and the lines of communication are wide open always!
CZarr · 56-60, M
hundreds exist here, thousands exist and survive world wide in other mediums.

Yes, but they're really hard and finding a way to keep communication open is key.
