Should a woman be expected to handle the household virtually unassisted if she does not have to work a job?

littlepinklotus · 41-45, F
I think so yes though I do think it would be nice if the man does a couple of things. Also this doesn't mean she's your slave. I think the guy should pick up after himself for the most part. Taking care of the house is a full time job in itself with no days off.

Keeping up a home is more than a full-time job. It's not like housewives work 9-5 and then punch out and they're done and get weekends off.

@insextra The sad thing is that not only are you not impressing anyone, you're not even impressing yourself.

I bet it would be fine if she worked 9-5 5 days a week and didn't work any other time. As long as she put in real quality effort for the 40 hours there is no way a house couldn't be managed on those hours.

It's possible but it's a hell of a lot more work than most of the jobs our husband's work nowadays so if you're trying to be fair... I say unless you're working your ass off doing physical labor all day you should be helping. My husband works two jobs but they're both easy so he takes the kids out of the house often so I can get things done at least.

That’s one of the reasons I divorced. He thought it was so easy and that I should do it all day, every day. I resented him and it went downhill.
Unassisted? If you live in the home you help take care of it. That should be expected. Keeping a house running is not a simple one person job.

It sounds like the perfect excuse of a man lacking self discipline.
Genieinabottle · 51-55, M
@Miram I earn $55/hr. Why on earth would I do things I can hire someone to do for $15/hr?. I offered to hire her help but she is too cheap. And (she doesn't trust me around other women) she is afraid I would try to fuck a housekeeper or assistant.

@AcidBurn but its not expected of you
@nita72 You're saying nobody expects a single working parent to handle the household? Who takes care of it then?

Is She A LAzy Ass?
Genieinabottle · 51-55, M
@DonaldTrumpet for the most part? Yes. She hates housework. I offered to pay for a cleaning lady but she won't let new pussy be that close to me. I told her to hire a guy!

The overall workload of running the household and funding it should be shared equally, as agreed by the couple.

I work hard, work a lot and make a lot of money (of which I see very little) I expect her to do everything for me - like she is my assistant - book doctor appointments, pick up the dry cleaning etc. I don't think it's problematic because I earn all the money. I offered to have a cleaning lady, have cooked meals brought in, to get an assistant to do my errands, and other people and methods to help lighten her load - she is too cheap to spend the money OR she still doesn't trust me around other women and won't bring on help. If she has been offered help and refused it I don't see why I then have to fucking do what I offered d to hire some person to do.@NudasPriest
