What priorities do you need to be aligned to marry someone?

How important do you think shared interests are?

Interest is more important than shared interests, in my opinion. If you're the sort who can't make room in your life for anyone else's passions or are bored by anything that wasn't your idea, you need someone you have a lot in common with. If you can find variety interesting and see exposure to something new as an adventure and just enjoy the fact that your love is passionate about anything, then it matters less so long as you're cool with giving them the time and space to indulge it.
@JustNik I really appreciate this answer. I totally agree about engaging in your partners passion.

I especially like you last line. Though it is nice to be interested in some of the same things to enjoy together.

@Challenger1 and that's not too hard to find. 🙂 Thank you.

Shared interest is a must for me if I ever get married again. I was married to someone I had very little in common with and it was torture.
@SW-User What sort of shared interests?

@Challenger1 Music, hobbies, politics, family etc
Pretty important to have some shared interests. I would also say, even if you don't have an interest in it to support them in it as much as possible.

Must like it in the butt. That’s about it

@MURD3RM0NK3Y Unfortunately for you a joke needs to be funny to qualify. Just saying something dumb is not a joke, it is just dumb.

@Challenger1 That’s great.

I gotta say my boyfriend and I don't have much in common but we find each other really interesting, our conversations last hours discussing things. It can be nice sharing different perspectives
@Mrsbetweenfatandfit I agree... but how long does that last? I am not necessarily talking about perspectives. What about things you like doing? what about priorities? Does one of you focus more on work and career? Does one want more time together at the expense of cash?

@Challenger1 for my parents his parents and grandparents it worked between 20- 50 years. Good examples to look at. Being different has opened our minds to see another side. Compromise comes in which I think has brought in a lot of growth to both of us
