For married folk: the worst fight you had

What was the worst fight you had with your spouse? What was it about? How long did it last? How did it get resolved?

Easy. Over a broken tv.... well no it was over me being drunk and unreliable and drinking for 25 years.

After an hour or two of argument I sank to the floor curled up a sobbed for some hours.

A few days later I went into rehab and that day and that argument was the last time I drank.
@SW-User so your worst is also your best. It saved you 🤗

Once when I was still married and before the days of digital cameras, I was looking through some photos my wife had just received back from being developed. There was one photo of her sitting completly naked in the lounge of my house.

After asking who had taken it,it turns out that it had been taken by another male friend of ours when I wasn't at home.

She claimed that the pic was for me but obviously I had issues with our friend seeing her completely naked. I made her sleep in the spare room that night until I calmed down. Then I forgave her and never mentioned it again. A few years later we were divorced though and she is now married to the man who took that photo...

It was when the fruit trees started dying from lack of water.
It was the last straw for me.
I laid it on the line. It was impossible for me to manage all the work on the farm on my own. I could not afford to pay anyone to help. I was sick of him living off my income and not helping. I was ready to walk off the farm, sell up, leave him and start a new life.
He left to go camping with a buddy and told him the whole story.
He got a huge shock when his buddy said he agreed with everything I'd said. His buddy said either you love her and the life you have enough to help with the work, or you don't.
He came back having made the decision to help, and together we are now managing most of the chores.
Two of the trees died, but the rest eventually recovered.

I don't recommend ultimatums as a strategy unless one has genuinely reached a point where there is no other option. Some people use ultimatums as a tool of manipulation; used in that way they are toxic and destructive.

I wasn't married but with him 10 years...I can't decide between when he called me a cunt and threatened to beat the shit out of me in front of the kids or when he punched me.

@ZenKitzune 😂 why do I find this comment funny

@Adam77 probably because it didn't happen to you.

The worst fight for me is the cold war. The emotional distance, stonewalling. It tears me inside when it happens. My ex-husband is very spiritual and when he feels that I am not being an obedient wife in the eyes of God, he becomes emotionally distant (spiritual abuse). That feeling of isolation is worse than having a verbal fight.

As to how it was resolved, it depends on whether his cold war subsides and he would talk to me again as if it never happened. If I ask what made him unhappy, he said that I was overthinking and that nothing happened. So it is swept under the rug. And you wonder if it was really you who had been overthinking.

Cheating, almost a year, divorce.
It may not be the worst but it's the one that sticks out in my mind the most, we were about to take an overnight train in Norway and my OH said something about me asking my parents for a laptop for my birthday because he wanted one and I got really mad that he'd try and get me to get my parents to buy him something expensive.
We argued pretty much the whole night and couldn't leave because we were stuck in this tiny berth
