Married dudes... How quickly did you know

I saw it from a different perspective. I'd always been able to 'disqualify' any woman I'd previously dated as a wife for one or more reasons; be they petty or substantial. With her, not only did she have more genuine qualities that mattered to me in one person than all others, but I found each and every one of her minor faults completely tolerable. Something about that ability to not only love someone but to accept them absolutely as they are.

No, scratch all that. It was actually when I took her to see Beavis & Butthead Do America, and she laughed until tears rolled off her cheek.

No, no, it must have been a couple months in when she completely surprised me with a tent and two-person sleeping bag for my birthday.

Actually, it was when I first asked her to accompany me to dinner. She declined, and I swore I'd marry her as my revenge.

She proposed to me

Well... I was looking for a wife, so of course I thought it was possible from the start, but seriously thinking about it... the 2nd or 3rd date.

We're going on 9 years now!

first night and we have been together since 1979 and married since August 1980

I've asked several women on the first date.

I figured after a year of dating it was possible she could put up with me long term

I'm still not sure I want to, and it's our fifth anniversary next month 😂

Never been married, but I did ask once. Knew her for two years before I did ask.

The first six months

At the end of our first date. I know that's crazy, but I'm not saying that we didn't both recognize the possibility - but decide to take things slow, make sure we really are a fit, and put it God as well. But I knew very quick. Here are the basic reasons:
- she's smart
- she's caring
- she's witty
- she's beautiful
- she's independent as well
... Did I mention she was beautiful!?....

About 1-2 years. Living together first is a must.
