the 15th century Broughty Castle

15th century hotel is more like it
helensusanswift · 26-30, F
@Wedgy It saw a lot of action in the 16th century English wars and was redone to face a possible Russian and French threat in the 1850s

What drove them to build so high?
helensusanswift · 26-30, F
@Quimliqer Typical Scottish tower house, tall and narrow within a barmekin wall. It would give a decent view down the Firth of Tay, from where English invaders would come. This castle was a guardian of the river and the towns of Dundee and Perth.
