I Play Music

i had lessons for 8 years. I have played in front of 350+ people when i was 4 years old at my piano teachers church at a christmas mass. we played a duet of silent night together. I started to write music when I was 13 and stopped suddenly - I now enjoy my keyboard and am starting to play again after all these years - . I have graduated from the English school of music - first grade (back when i was 10 years old). i love music and don't know why i stayed away so long. I have had friends who after talking me into jamming with them ask me to be in bands- . Anyway - i love to play music and listen to it.

In our day,we were trained in self-discipline by the training we received from our parents, pears and teachers. Nowadays, there little to no discipline in homes, schools or churches.
I have a natural ear for music and have played anything with a keyboard, beginning at age 12 or so with the accordion and a little cord organ I had. After playing by ear for several years, I began taking lessons from a schoolmate of mine but it didn't work out due to my ear picking up the tune, which would cause me to loose my concentration on the music notes before me.
I wish that I hadn't been given the gift so I could learn the notes and even write my own music. I have written a couple songs but only by memory.
Best of luck to you in your music.

I enjoy playing keyboards. Believe it or not, my first instrument was the accordion! It was purchased for my sister but she never showed any interested so it passed to my little sister. she took lessons for a while but got sick so couldn't continue with it.
It sat around for a while until I just picked it up and started fooling around with it and within an hour, I had worked out a little tune on it.
In time, I began playing hymns on it and played for church shortly thereafter.
I can play in three main keys and can play all of them with practice.
I took lessons for a while but never got used to it. Once my ear picked up the tune, I'd loose all concentration on the notes so I'd get lost in the music.
We had an old reed organ (pump) which I enjoyed playing. There was a piano at the boarding school I attended for several years and would play it from time to time.
In third grade then again in seventh, I took up the clarinet but hated it. I never again touched a reed instrument, though I enjoyed listening to Henry Questa from the Lawrence Welk show as well as others. My thought is the bassoon and the oboe are the hardest to get music out of.
I still pay keyboards and the accordion regularly, all by ear! The only note I recognize is middle "C". Beyond that, I'm lost! JK
I often find that musicians are such creative individuals. Do you write too? That is something I think I would like to do: create lyrics for songs. Music is such a fine sort of therapy. I play music at work-both jobs. Thanks for this posting. I wish you lots of music now and always!

I agree. I have written a few poems but not often enough to try and accumulate enough to publish.
In jr. high, I wrote my first an only limerick:
"There was a fish named Star,
who thought he could drive a car.
So he jumped in a FORD, but soon he got bored.
He didn't get very far.
I even drew a several illustrations to it. Sure wish I had kept it!
Can't believe its already been 40 years!

Have your written any you care to share?
@spankemotk: Friend, I post daily here. Do go taste. Feel free to comment too. I like thoughts.

Good for you❣😊 I have been fortunate enough to meet some really great talent, some great garage bands. ☮🎸🥁🎼🎶 I had a boyfriend that was a lead guitar player when I was 19. I use to sing with them and they were invited to play on The Queen Mary that is docked in Long Beach California.⭐ Later we discovered that old ship is haunted, stories about it has been on TV. 👻
