Am I a horrible person for letting this continue to bother me?

So tonight my mom came home and the table wasn't set for dinner. My sister and I had been talking and we simply forgot, but as soon as she came home we immediately went to do it. This still did not make my mom happy. She called me useless and said she wants me to quit going to school and get a full time job . I work part time and help out when asked to, including assisting my parents with dropping my little siblings off at practices and stuff. Of course she went back to normal after dinner, but without an apology. Is it bad of me to still be hurt, even though she went back to normal?

No but realize it probably wasn't you. It was probably a capper to a shit day.
Elegy · 46-50
@gabby: That makes a lot of sense. She's unhappy so she's lashing out . Especially when others seemingly make it worse.

It's not you specifically, Okay?

She loves you

Okay

@antisocialbutterfly Everyone in the society do the same. Just being keep silent at that moment and not taking their words, you might feel good.

Maybe she was frustrated due to work or something so she said that.. I guess everything should be fine with you both now

@th3r0n You can do more over the internet than you might think.
th3r0n · 41-45, M
@InvaderNice perhaps you can, my computer skills are mostly related to repair and setup, I’m no hacker.
InvaderNice · 26-30, M
@th3r0n It’s not that. I’ve dealt with sociopaths all my life so I know how to humiliate and shut anyone down, like this asshole right here. I’m not gonna do it cause he hasn’t proven worth it.
InvaderNice · 26-30, M
It was wrong of your mom to call you useless and then act like nothing happened. I hope she's not always like that.

Your feelings are correct. It did hurt you and that's not your fault.
antisocialbutterfly · 22-25, F
Sorry @InvaderNice:
WickedGreat · 56-60, M
Your mother is unstable and you're sweet.
InvaderNice · 26-30, M
@WickedGreat: Right.
Bornrebel · 36-40, M
I know it sucks when something like that happens. But may your mom was having a tough time and didn't mean to act the way she did. Yes, she should have explained herself better but sometimes that just doesn't happen.
antisocialbutterfly · 22-25, F
Sorry @Bornrebel:
Bornrebel · 36-40, M
@Gabby: no need to be sorry about. Hugs
antisocialbutterfly · 22-25, F
Ok

antisocialbutterfly · 22-25, F
Thanks @ThisIsMyName:
Ready2LLL · 46-50, F
It's no excuse for her but she may of had a very bad day, she's not going to share all her bad stuff with you, plus it's hard for parents to apologize
antisocialbutterfly · 22-25, F
Yeah...except this is a normal thing @Satisfiedlove:
Ready2LLL · 46-50, F
@gabby: talk to her, if uncomfortable talking, write her a letter telling her how you feel
antisocialbutterfly · 22-25, F
I've tried talking to her...
VAMPFREAKZ69 · 46-50, M
No ur not. if you work part-time and you help out when you need to or when you're asked to that shouldn't have you from stop going School you need your schooling your education is very important.
VAMPFREAKZ69 · 46-50, M
you're doing the right things don't take it to heart when she says stuff like that just ignore it she probably had a bad day. you're also doing a huge favor by helping out with your sister
ajsk13 · 51-55, M
I think she was just tired , go ask her instead of seeking another opinion
antisocialbutterfly · 22-25, F
Ok@ajsk13:
Exhibiter100000 · 61-69, M
No. You have the right to feel that way. She should not have said those things to you. You are a lot of help to her
Fungirlmmm · 51-55, F
She probably had a rough day. I hope you feel better.
antisocialbutterfly · 22-25, F
Thanks @Fungirlmmm:

Not really but it does sound very awkward
antisocialbutterfly · 22-25, F
It is quite awkward. She'll say horrible things to me and then go back to normal. I literally have no idea how to react.@countryboy:
No, words can hurt. Chances are she didn't mean them, and was simply reacting to the stresses of that moment, but that doesn't mean you can magically unhear them. If she wonders why you seem different, explain that your feelings were a bit hurt, basically for the reasons you've given here.
antisocialbutterfly · 22-25, F
I think my mom might be bipolar ...@bijouxbroussard:
@gabby: Oh, okay. That does complicate things. But don't take that onto yourself, because you have no control over her mental state.
antisocialbutterfly · 22-25, F
Yeah. Things are a bit complicated @bijouxbroussard:
