Why are people so shocked about all the rioting and chaos that is happening in the United States?

Look, I'm not saying that I condone it. I was taught that two wrongs don't make a right. You have to realize though, that it's been building a long time...years in fact. And I really hate to say it, but it may only be the beginning.
I am torn about this. The #blacklivesmatter hashtag started 7 years ago - and has essentially been met with resentment and ridicule. Rather than addressing the problem the hashtag is meant to spotlight, the discussion devolved into, "Yeah? More than white or brown lives? This is racist."

This tragedy in Minneapolis seems to me, at least, to have burned this issue pure of contaminants. George Floyd may or may not have tried to pass counterfeit bills. It does seem to me odd that if he had just been thwarted in a crime that he would still be sitting in his car within clear view of the location of that attempted crime.

For this uncharged, untried crime, he was executed.

Anyone too dumb to understand that kneeling for almost eight minutes on a man's neck is potentially going to cause harm or death really should not be a police officer.

I do believe most police officers should receive our support.

But the clincher for me is that rioters are being arrested on the spot with no more evidence than prosecutors have against Derek Chauvin and his fellow officers at the scene.

What makes these two situations worthy of far different arrest protocols?

While I'm here - if anyone doubts that the media have their own agenda - at least one newspaper published the information that Derek Chauvin lived on a particular block on a particular street in a particular neighborhood. There can only be one reason for that. Pumping up more violence.
Exactly. It is prophecy being unfolded before our very eyes.
@LadyGrace Yep, just like the fall of Babylon.
@latinbutterfly Yes ma'am.

I don't condone it, but dammit, black people have been murdered by cops for decades now. Dr. Martin Luther King tried his best to always encourage peaceful protest. So many of those people took a beating for it.

I can only say that if I am sick over watching on television a man being murdered right in broad daylight, can you just imagine how the community feels? Maybe people know they have to be seen in a big way and make national news, hence the looting and fires.

You know if this never made national TV, Floyd would just be another incident that would go unheard.
@Peapod It's frustration boiling over. Keep in mind, what happened a few days ago is just weeks after the incident down in Georgia. It's really sad.

@Peapod I can remember back in the late 60s and early 70s when people protested because of police brutality. I know some that were lost or maimed due to the brutality.

It's so damn sad and frustrating this is still happening decades later.

Yes, I've known good police just like I've known protesters who are also good. I just never thought I'd have grandchildren be a witness to all that is happening in this day.

I'm not sure if I'm more saddened or more maddened by what this has turned into

@SuperA The graphic video of this man being systematically strangled is something I cannot get out of my head. I cannot imagine his family watching this. I am very upset. How could 3 other cops allow the 4th one to do this? I hope they are all charged and convicted.

I am heartbroken that there are some people that risk being murdered in the hands of police that have been trained to know better. I cannot blame communities around the country boiling over.

If that wasn't enough...damn Trump just gave a speech about China and mentioned NOTHING about the protests going on. He mentioned NOTHING about George Floyd and his family. He took no questions from the press after promising he would. He has shown us over and over that he cannot lead a nation in crisis.

Obama's legacy, he was shattered that it was being destroyed. Well now he can rejoice cuz this part is alive and well.

I only hope it doesn't cause more innocent victims than changes, as it's often the case for violent protests.

it's been going on since at least the 50s, periodically, it can't be a surprise after 70+ years of it.

I'm not sure rioting is going to fix it.

And I'm not sure why do they have to
be upset like being dictate by Joseph Stalin.

@latinbutterfly Racism happen everywhere. It is common. But, do you think violence is going to be a good solution?

Maybe peace was never be option, but how much destruction or blood shed has to be in these kind of events?
@SW-User Did I say it was a good solution? 🤔
Look, I'm not saying that I condone it. I was taught that two wrongs don't make a right.
No, I didn't say that at all. What I basically said was that it was bound to happen sooner or later. There may have been a time or a chance to defuse the bomb before it went off, but now it may be too late.

@latinbutterfly I know, I am just saying it. We should learnt from the past not to repeat the history again. But, here we are.
SW-User
It shouldn't be surprising. It also shouldn't be more outrageous than the killings that sparked it.
SW-User
This bull shit repeats itself every election year and people are blind to it.

Thank you@SW-User

@latinbutterfly I'd block. His profile tells it all. smh
@LadyGrace Oh, I have plenty of blocks saved for idiots like him, believe me 🤷🏻‍♀️.
@latinbutterfly Me too. There's no need for people to act so immaturely on here by trolling others.
