Why are illegal immigrants all gathered up and thrown into camps where they are treated like animals?

Why not just take them to the appropriate location where they can actually become citizens?
SubstantialKick · 31-35, M Best Comment
Because most of these "illegal immigrants" are Hispanic. If they were white Europeans this whole damn situation wouldn't even be happening.

@SW-User In the words of Kurt Angle, oh it's true...it's damn true.

Simple - they are ILLEGAL in USA, they should be deported and come to the USA legally and wait there turn

@nedkelly Again, I'm not going to take being bullied on my own post which is what he did. If you're going to keep defending that kind of heinous behavior, then maybe I'll have to show you the door also.

Even still money aside it’s a long process and a slightly difficult one. Many born Americans can’t pass the citizenship test.@MethDozer

Appropriate locations?

Let’s pretend we built Trump Hotels all along the border. At some point they would fill.

There are legitimate ways for becoming a US citizen. Planting yourself on the border of a country and seeking asylum is not one of the better ideas.
SW-User
@latinbutterfly I can totally agree with this. Nobody is arguing against smarter immigration.

Sadly, the GOP is using it to spark nationalism and the democrats are quite literally too inbred to do something good about it.

Foreign-born workers have always boosted this country and its economy. Managing immigration and allowing people from all parts of the world (not just the white parts) is good.... but we can't just open the gates anymore. The black eye that is the world trade center shows that we have to be diligent.

I don't understand why people are choosing to pile up in a country with a rapist, mindless, dictator-loving leader at its helm. Now's not a good time folks. Whoever is paying you/convincing you to come now is lying.

@SW-User
There are legitimate ways for becoming a US citizen. Planting yourself on the border of a country and seeking asylum is not one of the better ideas.
It's the only one that's practically available for those folks. There is no real conceivable way they can emigrate here in any other fashion, certainly they have little to lose from an attempt.

To put it in perspective, we've been waiting for a sibling visa for 15 years. And this requires things like promising to support them and demonstrating you can. Try to imagine the process and waiting list for those without a sponsor.

Illegal immigrants usually arrive with no money, for starters. There are so many of them at the border we can't handle it, financially or in any other way. Illegals who arrive at the border have to be flown or bused to other locations in the country to live at free shelters, and those are all filled up now. Free shelters for families with children are few and far between. I know, because I used to work at one, and families would actually drive up here from places like North Carolina because they had heard about us.

There are literally SO many illegal immigrants the only other thing that can be done has already been done...bus them to city locations and abandon them with no food, no water, and no shelter. There was a huge uproar about that, so we now have to FLY them to places like Bangor, Maine, as we did with a large group of Nigerians who tried to get in illegally on the southern border, to live in the only shelters that have any room. Bangor, Maine is now screaming not to send them any more, because they have no more ROOM or city or state resources to pay for people to sit in the free shelters.

Just the transportation costs have used up all the money we have allocated for illegal immigrants. The recent monies that were given to DHS by Congress came too late...a LOT too late. Money was finally, reluctantly, given by Congress, but people like AOC held things up, screaming that she wants to get rid of DHS, get rid of ICE, and basically just open up all our borders to anyone, not matter who they are or what their intentions toward you or your family.

They caught 10 men from Iran just last week. They spoke Spanish like natives, and caught them by accident.

Among the hundreds of thousands of completely honest illegal immigrants who would never dream of breaking our country's laws, there are very real criminals who have been deported before and who sneak back in, and they need to be sent back to where they originated. They just keep coming.

We have to check, also, that the children who are arriving are actually genetically related to the people with whom they arrive. We can't send them on without checking, otherwise a little girl who was rented out by her real parents in Guatemala might be sex trafficked in Los Angeles.

As a nurse, I understand that you wish to stop the pain and you have a desire to make it ALL better. I wish you could go down to the countries where people are renting out their own children to criminals and make that stop, and I wish you could stop the coyotes who put people into trailers in the heat of summer and try to smuggle them in and then abandon them and leave the trailer locked. All of those people die.

I watched an ICE agent yesterday, bright red with anger, testifying before Congress, YELLING at them, because he SAW those dead people, and SMELLED them, and saw a five year old boy who died in his father's arms of heat stroke and dehydration. He said he can NEVER get that out of his mind. He YELLED at Congress at the top of his lungs to "FIX THIS!!!!DO YOUR DAMN JOB!!!!"

I wish you could stop the immigrants who put their own lives in danger by crossing stretches of desert with their coyotes in the summer and are abandoned before they reach safety. ICE keeps finding women and children, abandoned in the desert, with no food and no water, because they can't keep up with the coyotes they paid.

Congress are the only ones who can fix this, and they all have their heads up their A$$es, so worried about being re-elected they let this go on and on and on and on.

The sheer stupidity of you "illegal sympathizers" is amazing...

If someone crosses border illegally, and doesn't like the accommodations when they're rounded up by ICE... then that's their fucking problem, they shouldn't have come here to begin with.

If they were the least bit interested in becoming a citizen, assimilating into and American society and swearing allegiance to OUR flag, then they'd probably do it legally like everyone else...
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
If we were the racists, nazis, etc. etc. you scum sucking liberals make us out to be; we'd have guard towers and MG nests on the border mowing down anything that tried to cross...

and you sympathizers would be rounded up and hanged for treason...
SW-User
@wildbill83 Typical Republican resorting to childish insults when someone says something they don't like, totally incapable of having a civil discussion. I would be a "scum suckling liberal" than an evil demon henchmen of Satan aka Donald Trump.

@SW-User I'm not the one proposing complete anarchy...
JT123 · M
The only ones whining about these facilities are the democrats who really could care less about these people, otherwise they wouldn't have refused funding to the border! They just use them for politics! After all not one word was mentioned the whole time their king Obama had them stuffed in the same place before he deported them all! Where were all the Trump bashers then?
SW-User
@JT123 I am not a "democrat". I don't associate myself with any political party. I am just someone who wants to see humanity do something good in 2019.

Why should illegals be given "cuts" in front of the people who are following the rules to immigrate legally?
SW-User
@VeronicaPrincess What the heck are you even talking about? Obviously everyone would have to wait their turn, come on now.
VeronicaPrincess · 61-69
@SW-User The people migrating legally all have their own stories, some of them have endured great hardships, yet they're earnest enough to follow the proper procedures for legal entry and naturalization.
xixgun · M
@VeronicaPrincess My wife's family took a 6 year process to immigrate to this country. When they arrived, they had 5 suitcases to their name and 2 of those were filled with books. Nowhere were signs or documents automatically translated into her native language. There was no special allowance made for her in schools. She studied with a dictionary, a thesaurus, an English to Russian and a Russian to English dictionaries, and her text books.

And as she correctly points out, she had to learn English to come here, now she's expected to learn Spanish. She also theorizes that the reason everything is automatically put in Spanish is because "they're too God damned lazy to learn and speak English" (her words, not mine).

(She now has numerous degrees from higher education)
curiosi · 61-69, F
Fake news, if it was so bad they would stay in their own country. They prefer to leech off the backs of hard working Americans. We have our own to take care of we can't take care of the world.
SW-User
@curiosi Is that all you ever have to say? Fake News! Fake news! Do you have any different automated responses?
curiosi · 61-69, F
@SW-User It sure as hell beats looking behind every bush and under every rock for racism in order to feed anger.
SW-User
@curiosi Well you are obviously programmed to think that their is no such thing as racism to begin with, plain and simple. So that being said, you probably wouldn't know what racism was if it happened to yourself.
xixgun · M
They left appropriate locations where they could apply and go through the process to become US citizens. That appropriate location is called their home.

Personally, I would have no "camps" for illegal immigrants. Nor would I have detention centers.
I would have neither of these things because I would not allow entry for any reason by someone illegally entering my country. They would be forcibly ejected and any attempts to "storm the gate" or tear down the flag of the country they claim they wish to immigrate to and replace it with the flag of their current country would be met with immediate and lethal force.

Just because they aren't carrying weapons doesn't mean it isn't an invasion.
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
@xixgun personally, I'd mine the border, and hold the Mexican government accountable for any attempted crossings; and should they persist, threaten Mexico with military retaliation. MLRS batteries aimed at Mexico city would be a good incentive for them to control their side of the border for a change...🤔

Theres a long history of human beings being treated like animals..

guess history is destined to repeat itself and ppl wont learn
SW-User
@Razorback oh yh i read about that

tbh i cant see a problem with it, the bodies are passed and need to be buried either way, it just speeds up the natural decomposition and the matter can be spread as the family or whoever sees fit..

we all turn back to earth anyway right 🤷‍♂️

Appropriate location?
SW-User
@BalmyNites Yes, the places where immigrants become offical documented citizens.
BalmyNites · F
@SW-User Well, that’s easier said than done when people turn up en masse in an illegal capacity, with nowhere to go, no job & & no money. These are the elements which inevitably breed crime.
It's cheaper to have 12-13M undocumented illegal alien workers in the work force than to have the same workers as US citizens.

All the talk about the law, nationalism, patriotism is really just a distraction.

Cheap labor. $$$$$.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
The camps that are in the news lately aren't actually for illegal immigrants, they're for asylum seekers.

But the whole thing is a pretty complicated question, there isn't really a neat solution. Even if you open up immigration to sensible levels, you'll still need to vet and process the people that show up to the border and ask for asylum. That some sort of detention will take place isn't even really avoidable. The big questions are about the manner of said detention and its actual purpose (ie: is it punitive?).

And becoming a citizen is a long process that requires 5+ years of legal residency. That particular situation is years ahead of the issues we're talking about.

Speaking as someone of native descent, the foundation of our country was indeed reliant on immigrants, but you know what else it was reliant on? Slavery. Yeah, the rules change and everyone should follow them. @Harriet03

Cuz they are illegal
msros · F
Europe has them and the US has them.
MethDozer · M
This is just stupid. They are avoiding the process. It's their job to apply. Not another country's obligation to accommodate and always accept. J7st because you want to become.a citizen of another place, doesn't mean you automatically have the right to become one.
