Is this college admissions scandal just a little too perfect?

I mean rich, famous people and their entitled, spoiled offspring are just too easy to ridicule. It feels like a bucket of chum being thrown to the masses.

No, I buy it. I am sure there is more of this happening.

@Theseus thanks dude

The elite get the elite degree yet will not be able to function .
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@TexChik Lori Laughlin’s daughter said that her father bought his degree (he is the designer of the Mossimo fashion line at Target)... explains the lackluster designs of his “fashions”...I never understood why it was considered designer quality, very basic & boring.

I’m almost certain this isn’t an isolated thing... The love of money is the root of ALL evil.
Theseus · 46-50, M
@cherokeepatti This thing is blossoming like a bad case of crabs. They're investigating preparatory schools now.
Theseus · 46-50, M
@approachingmyexpirationdate That wouldn't keep 'em out of the basement for long. With college they're gone for four years.
@Theseus good point

Cracks me up...it is ok to get special consideration for being an athlete, a minority member, or a woman. Even a foreign exchange student....but heaven forbid you get consideration for being wealthy. Colleges run on wealthy donors contributing endowments etc.….do you really think they didn't expect their kids to be taken care of? How about legacy admissions? You know, if your parent graduated from the school the kid gets special considerations for admissions.

The outrage is because this group of rich people just paid a middleman and didn't bribe in the correct manner....er I mean endow.

It is all nonsense and ALL admissions should be merit based.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@bowman81 Athletes work for their scholarship. I worked in an athletic area the last few years I worked at a university...they spend a lot of time to get a scholarship. It’s not an easy pass.
supposedly this came to light while investigating some other fraud.

but you have to wonder

conspiracy theories aren't just for the whachos any more

here's a thought I had: wonder how they voted in the last election - and more importantly - which campaigns they contributed to
StevetheSleeve · 31-35, M
@approachingmyexpirationdate Yeah, there’s probably political fallout to come, but for now it’s a bipartisan scorn fest.
Platoscave · F
@StevetheSleeve bipartisan scorn test.
heh.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
Nope, the elite have had their way for far too long.
Theseus · 46-50, M
It's chum well applied if you ask me! I'm sick of the preferential treatment offered to the rich and useless--especially when they're fucking liberal, haute boheme hypocrites.
Zaphod42 · 46-50, M
I just wonder why everyone is so shocked. I always just assumed that's how most of the rich kids got into university 🤷‍♂️
No? It’s pretty much common knowledge most students that have wealthy parents get into more selective universities than others. This isn’t an isolated incident and shit like this has been going on forever. It would make sense if you went to an Ivy League school and saw how many dumb and incompetent students go there all because of their parents legacy admissions or from them donating to the school.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Insomniac100 My daughter went to an Ivy League school but she got there by her own hard work and brains...I didn’t have money to put her through college.
colleges benefitted from the money
what will they do without the bribe money?
Starcrossed · 41-45, F
Agreed. Sooooo much. Your word imagery describing it is equally perfect.
Platoscave · F
its a low blow but its also a low story.
a tragicomedy of misplaced values.
