Stay or go?

For immigrant families with U.S. born children: Shold the parents be given a chance to obtain citizenship or should the child be deported with the parents?
SimplyTracie · 26-30, F
If the parents are here illegally, they should be deported. It’s the law. And of course the children should be with their parents.

Having said that, Congress should examine a few options. They could consider the length of time these immigrants have been in the USA and look to see if they have contributed to society. There are options but Congress is either too lazy or too dumb to work harder on immigration laws.

@SimplyTracie I agree, either way you look at, a family should stick together. Although the immigrants that are here to deal drugs/sex trafficking or make a quick buck can get the f**k out!

@Adam1985 Agreed

Sure. Why not. If they can pass the citizenship test, then they know enough about the country they live in.

Bottom line is they broke the law, though. If they would have killed someone, the family would have been broken up, as they'd be in prison.

@Tatsumi True, but even I am descendant of immigrants.

@Adam1985 I don't know the history of immigration, but regardless, the bottom line still stands. They could have imigrated legally, but they didn't.

Just because I'm [probably] decended from killers, doesn't mean that other people killing is justified.

I think there should be a program where the family as a whole can attain citizenship at the same time.
Adam1985 · 36-40, M
@SW-User At least give them a chance right?
SW-User
@Adam1985 The whole immigration system is messed up. There is no way a child should get their citizenship before the parents.
SW-User
Stop the stupidity and use common sense, and everything will be fine.
Adam1985 · 36-40, M
@SW-User What do you mean?
SW-User
@Adam1985 forget it
Parents should be given a chance to obtain citizenship or legal status. If they have to leave, they should have the choice of taking their kids with them or leaving them in custody of a trusted legal resident. Jus soli citizenship should not be changed due to bigotry.
