What is something you recently said to someone that was misinterpreted?

NankerPhelge · 61-69, M
I misinterpreted another SW member's post which included the word "pissed" in it. I assumed that meant drunk because that's what it usually means, but apparently the poster had not had any alcohol for years and meant something completely different.

@SW-User Most people say "pissed off" to mean angry. "I'm really pissed off about that". I think it's lazy to leave the word "off" out, as well as conveying a different meaning. Where I come from, nobody says "pissed" meaning angry. "Pissed" means drunk while "pissed off" means angry. Why does your brain default to "pissed" meaning angry?

@NankerPhelge Because I guess I live around a bunch of lazy bums that want to leave out the "off". I do it myself all the time but I'm a notorious freeloader when it comes to speaking the English language. I'm surprised I didn't abbreviate this entire response and leave it up to you to figure out what I'm trying to say.
